I am from himachal...and these kaleerein used to made handmade...it is very common in weddings in himachal... bride used to wear these kaleerein and also it's not that heavy....I remember whenever in my relative's wedding when I was a kid my grandmother and my mother used to made kaleerien and i was helping them....but sadly very few of us now making these kaleerien beacase they take efforts and now people like to wear modern kaleerien

These kaleera are very common in Himachal. These are made of makkhna, coconut or puffed rice so bride .Such kaleers were made in the olden days because if the bride felt hungry while going to her in-laws' house, she could take out dry fruits from those kaleers and eat them. There is also a custom in many places that these kaleera of the bride are eaten by her sister-in-law.
