It is really romantic that this isn't really a prince and a soldier and friend. It's funny that how Mulan seriously colds him when WE fans know she likes him and she just doesn't consider that yet and Honghui likes her (when she reveals her true self). Don't care about the negative protests and comments Niki Caro cause for some of us it is a BOOST! Bravo! My ship is sailed...I wonder how Mulan is embarrassed and shy when she holds his hand when she is ambitious in battle. Anyone with me??? 1:40 I actually laughed my head off when Honghui showed up durng Mulan's bath. I actually found it interesting that Honghui left when Mulan wanted him to. Unlike Ling, Yao, and Po from the original animation. Honghui is the Anti-Disney Male love interest. Disney should write more guys like this. Is this A Disney movie at all? I'm in awe and In love.😊❤❤ Mulan is pretty.😊

The reason why those on the other side like Li Shang is because he is the commander and is supposedly Bisexual. The director of the live Action Mulan movie said this was inappropriate and unnecessary for the story. So Creating Honghui was his answer to the problem and getting rid of problematic characters like Mushu and Crikee. This was a well written movie.😊 I thank the Maker for Making the Maker make this Masterpiece.

Omg yes! After I first watched the live action my first thought was "Sorry Li Shang but Hong Hui is better" lmao Movie differences aside, I think we can all agree that the love interest change was positive. Personally I enjoyed seeing Hong Hui supporting her no matter what, he liked her as a guy and did not care when he found out she was a girl because she was still the same person on the inside. He always stood by her side and that to me speaks volumes about his character. And yeah, he's easy on the eyes too lol

No romance such a disappointment, that hand moment there was what is annoying they could have developed romance a bit more and better in my opinion , even the conversation between them at the end could have been improved to show more closeness than just a slight touch. To me there wasnt romance in this movie at all.

Well for those who ask that question it is bc if she did want to marry him than she would need to follow trading and give up fighting but she didn’t want to ( all of this was in my opinion) but great edit and I wish they showed more scenes of them together but Mulan wanted to be a fighter not a wife but I loved the movie!😀🤩❤️

They said they had to cut it to appease China (I don't know why since their tv shows have a lot of on screen kisses. I guess it's because the target audience is the young people). I have a feeling it's towards the end when they were saying their "goodbyes". Mulan shied shyly, and Honghui looked like he just won the jackpot.

From the version I saw, there isn't any romanticism. Which also reduces the whole bisexual angle, I think. That might be the censorship thing to appeal broader audience. Also, Honghui initially looks at Hua Jun as more of a rival. So it's probably unrealistic that he suddenly falls in love with 'him' just because he's a girl.

Another missed chance for Hollywood to create a love interest for an Asian male. Well, what a coincidence. Doesn't surprise me from Hollywood. That keeps the total of Hollywoodmovies in 80 or I dunno how many years time where an Asian male lead get a kiss scene on screen to be 2 (Fast and Furious and Crazy, Rich Asians). Screw that!
