I'm retired now, but was a new OEM dealer for 48 years. Frankly, the brand doesn't matter (as long it is a name brand). The service of the dealership, is much more important than the actual brand you buy. As long as there is good parts availability, good knowledgeable service people, and reasonable pricing actual brand (Deere, Cat, ASV, Case, Kubota, etc...) doesn't matter. Getting uptime service after hours/weekends is everything.

I guess theres a place for booth out there but in my personal use i really love my brush cutter . and have many hours on it. Less break downs , replacement parts cost less , 3 blades verses alot of mulching teeth. Let alone the cost difference in the 2 compaired to each other. very good video Davin.

Typically for high flow mulchers you should want a variable motor. When dealing with standard flow you get fixed motors typically.

Good video, I have some experience and I would go with a mulcher before a brush cutter just about anytime. Where I live carbide teeth are a must, blades would be destroyed on the uneven ground and rocks especially with someone that doesn't have experience running one of these machines. My mulching head is a Cat/FAE and I have had to replace a bearing twice, do you know if there is a suggested life for replacing bearings? The Cat mechanics I work with locally can't find a spec on how frequently they suggest replacing bearings.

I'm surprised they dont have a brace with wheels, like they do with a rake, or skid on front of brush cutters so they dont dig into uneven ground a lot.

also -- super nice to have a "reverse" flow on a mulcher to help unjam it. Most of the European built ones are single-direction flow, no reverse.

Look for KZbin reviews! I would rather pay $4,000 instead of $40,000..... Just go easy and use caution and you should be fine. BTW, you can buy mini backhoes or cranes for $4,000 today with great results. Just judge your job size and ask if it would be practical. DO NOT think you can buy cheap and make money on if for big jobs or a business. SMALL personal jobs, Chinese would be fine, but, look for you tube reviews before purchase.................. YOU get what you pay for............ IMPORTANT to check hydraulic flow rates required from the tool against the machine it get's hooked up to.

Now you need to do an idiot test. See just how far you can launch different materials and what all it will do when it hits different things. Like ballistic testing, but with cutter heads.

Devon, I honestly don’t know diddly about these machines. As a layman and longtime watcher of your channel (and Upstate Brushworks), I’m quite frankly amazed at how quickly these machines bog down. Hence, the constant backing up and going over material 2, 3, sometimes 4 times. Everything seems underpowered to me. How much wear and tear on the machine is created by being so underpowered? And how much time and fuel is wasted by going back and forth, back and forth? In a way, the machines seem almost like big boy toys. They get the job done - but with very poor efficiency. Anyway, that’s my $.02. I enjoy your videos. Keep plugging.

It is getting difficult to tell the Chinese difference anymore besides price! Can that Brush Cutter drop an average 12" tree?? EACH of those two tools have their own place and cannot be compared!

You need a solid disc brush cutter for that. They are 20k+. Eaton or Parker motors are my preference. Note: These things are very dangerous. Must have poly front door on machine. There is a huge learning curve with these.
