That’s how I feel about all the multieffects things I’ve tried. A lot of these big KZbin personalities don’t share what you shared, and I fell victim to them! When you described how you’d be playing and something didn’t quite feel right... holy cow did I relate to that!! It sounds good, feels so wrong! To me people are missing that. I don’t know how they live with it. I cannot get my guitar-juices flowing like that. Need an amplifier. There are some strange guitarists out there that claim they’re not missing anything, but I can’t help but think they are just not after what we are after. I picture them as being the most casual type of player you can imagine? I don’t know-cuz I don’t get it.

Only way is combine the pedals with a few DI boxes and a noise gate and noise suppressor together will relieve the situation.

I own and use the Boss ME 80. I also own and use the individual Boss pedals, distortion DS-1, Boss chorus CE 2W, and Boss super od - 1. For quick home use, the ME 80 is great. You are 100% correct, we agree, the ME 80 muli effects is just missing something. Disconnect it and plug in the individual pedals on the pedal board and wow! Does it ever make the tone come roaring to life! Why the manufacturers can't get them to sound the same is beyond my technical knowledge but I believe that it should be a possibility.

Thanks for making this vid Sam. This sums up exactly the difference between digital and analog effects. When you do a sound comparison, digital sounds just as well, however, when you actually play the instrument through them, it's dead, it just doesn't have the same feedback. IMO. Drummer's often talk about this when playing electronic kits vs playing an acoustic kit. They don't feel the same. I heard a really awesome analogy recently, where a guitarist spoke about "taking out the middle man". They were speaking about taking away the consciousness of playing through "things", and to be completely connected to the instrument. In my experience, playing through digital multi-effects is the "middleman' and can take away from being completely present with the instrument. Listening to the "Pepsi challenge" approach to multi-effects is like comparing the difference between hot and cold by its smell..... Sorry, a bit of a rant.... In conclusion, fantastic video, and a great way to articulate the difference between digital and analog.
