I had the exact same problem, but I fixed it by connecting the composite reads to OR gates, with the call buttons on each floor connected to the other input, and connecting the or gate to where the composite reads used to be connected. Works flawlessly

oh yes the multi floor elevator.... I have several designs for this. I can not stress this enough, how are you so good at making stuff like this, whilst making a tutorial? It is both useful and interesting to watch these videos.

Here's an idea for opening the correct doors in an easier way. Use electrical connectors. The source connector is located on the elevator floor and it's release mechanism is controlled by the microcontroller. Each floors door is set to constant on and receives electrical power from the floors electrical connector. When the distance in blocks = the set position AND speed = 0, then disengage the release mechanism. I'd also add a delay mechanism on the movement to allow for the doors to close before moving. Safety first right... Lastly, I'd use multiple dash components as call buttons. A single button for each level with the channel of that floor. As long as you loop the dash's and MC together, you can't even need to change anything in the MC, regardless of which button is pressed, the channel is the same so the MC will react the same.

Ok so for everyone who is confused with how you make the "Call elevator" buttons this is how you do it. Ok so first, You go to the micro prosessor you've made, what you do here is you make some extra inputs for your call buttons. In my example i used three call buttons. In the microprosessor you add three on/off inputs for your buttons. When you have done this, you put them into your program and connect each of them to an "OR" component. into the OR component you plug in your call button to the Memory register and numerical switchbox you have for the designated floors. English is not my first language so im sorry if its formulated in a difficult way. If you have any questions just reply and ask me and if it seems hopeless i could eventually escort you to my Steam profile and upload my Micro-Prosessor which you can then use and download for your own use.

I'm a bit confused with the whole add blocks stuff at 7:52. I've actually got 6 floors as opposed to your 4, which is initially fine, since I only need to add an additional add block to the initial 2 you have shown, but once it comes down to the second pair, I can only think A-B on one, and then only B on the other. How do I fix this?

He said add it all together, so I can only think of adding one extra add block for the extra two floors, and another add block to add those and another add block to add the three. And I guess put that all into the memory block. This definitely isn't a solution though, just an idea.

You can also use grippers to lock the elevator in place which can help save power and prevent it from slowly sliding down over time, which is also very handy for heavy-duty cargo/vehicle elevators. Can be done either by using vertical grippers that apply a brake when the door opens or by using horizontal ones that release when the door closes, the horizontal option is probably the best as it locks the elevator to the grid instead of a potentially incorrect section of the vertical track. You would only need grippers/tracks level with each floor and 1 on the elevator for it to lock onto, so you can still make it somewhat compact if needed.

Distance sensor are using electricity and the power will constantly drain the battery all the time if the power source being connected. I recommend use electric relay and capacitor for a distance sensor to prevent power being used.

You would also want to lock the elevator in place once it reaches its target floor, otherwise you can cause the elevator to sink at a more noticeable rate.

What i've done in my ship is just forget about the speed sensor, and only use the distance sensor for opening the doors. This does open the doors before you arrive, but that isn't really an issue in my opinion.

Very nice overall but a speed sensor isn't the best ideer for the doors I think, because normally your creation is moving when you use it so the doors won't open

Good point!, But instead you could just link it to the PID output and then when PID is =0 then open doors :)

You can counter it by using a speed sensor attached to the main body, then use the difference between both in place of the one on the elevator. This essentially cuts out all movements of the creation and allows the elevators speed sensor to function as if stationary. You will need to make sure they have the same orientation so copy-pasting is probably the best way to place the second one, you might also need to set both to directional to prevent any weirdness.

Theres seriously an issue with calling or im missing something, 3 days of tinkering please help

Can we please have a watertight door that doubles as a cargo lift? Kinda like on an aircraft carrier? Having trouble getting one to seal, that or a hinged one that parts in the middle, basically need a big hatch but don't want a door a mile high in the air when open.

I wish this video would have showed us how to send the elevator to the certain floor individually. Say as if you are sitting on level 4, you call it to come.
