A god "old" way to deal with insect bites, cut a raw onion in half and put the cut on the bite. It cools and at the same time the onion sap works like a antidote. Got this from my mother when i was stung by a wasp, as kid and i use this even today (i think this works even better than the 'after bite stuff' from the drug store's). Have a nice weekend Lars.

I will have to try that out next time :) There's nothing like Mother/Grandmother hacks.

Good one! That´s acutally my preferred remedy for insect bites too. I got this hint from my Grandma when I was a child 40 years ago, but in my case the sting was from a bee. Onions are awesome!

I looks awesome because it's big enough to be used over a large backpack and still be a good poncho. I just wish someone would make a larger canvass poncho that could be used over a backpack and linked up to form larger shelters. If doubling as a tarp it's nice to be a be to cook under it or even sit above a small fire to warm up and dry off without melting

Looks like a handy bit of equipment. I was contacted a while back by a Russian company who makes not only tents but woodstoves for the tents as well. They wanted to work a deal with me to review their products on my videos. I wasn't interested to do so myself. If you think you might be interested, let me know and I will see if maybe I still have their contact info.

These little round pockets are made for a sticks, when you want to use the tarp as a roof above your head when you stand full, but there is no trees aroud to use the ribbons, I think. For example to cover up yor cooking place, or to make a roof for you car outside. Fishermen use it in this way very often.

Three basic forms of usage for such tarps - shelter for sleeping, roof or cover and stretchers for wounded (folded on half and use handles).

Very informative. As for the double rings inside.. I'm sure you could use taller polls and use the rings to string a mosquito bar (net) inside. Plenty of air ventilation in that aspect. As or low lying.. great for stealth camping. Just a quick set up. I wonder if they have a version that is actually square. Say 10' x 10' . One could erect a nice one man shelter with just some pegs and a long staff. Kind of a half pyramid. And yet still use the rings inside for a mosquito bar. Would be interesting. Thanks for the upload. By the way.. very hard to find an economical manufacturer that makes a square tarp vs a rectangular one these days.

It looks really great. I guess my only two concerns are that thing looks like it takes up a lot of room when folded. My Basha Shelter can packed into an ammo pouch if needed, but this looks like it takes up a lot of room in a backpack. They are parasites, their eggs hatch inside horses or cattle and eat their way out as larvae... A tip is that they do not seem to be able to see white/light colors, science believes this is why the zebras are striped. I have had success with khaki clothing and US tricolor. Even "chocolate chip" seems to work decent as I am not attacked as much.

That's a nice robust looking tarp, blends to the background pretty readily. Thank you for the demonstration Lars, have a great weekend! PS. My sympathies for the "egg" on your forehead, horse flies & deer flies are some of the worst insects out there. Hope the swelling has gone down now. We call those flies "Paarma" in Finnish, or "Vittu, taas se puri!!"("F*ck! Got bit again!") is preferable as well. Pardon the language, but those bugs just get it out of me every time they take a chunk out of my flesh and give me a sore swollen spot.

nice video. I have one of these tarps. great quality. lots of interesting features for what i am sure are a million ways of using it. lots of straps and tie down points. also the d ring coating keeps the rings silent. my biggest complaint is the width. it is around 2/3 the width of a british basha. in my opinion the Russian tarps are too narrow. Fine for certain shelters but it always leaves me wishing it was wider. you can strap as many of these tarps together as you want for a bigger shelter but then you need to carry multiple. and these tarps are heavy. i think the basha is better for one person. if the russian tarp were as wide as the basha i would pick the russian everytime. alas....

Hey Lars, if someone was to give you a lapel microphone to clip to your jacket, would you use it? it would mean that editing would be trickier as you'd have a separate audio track to worry about and sync with the video, but might be better if you have audio issues with some of your cameras?
