Guy Mann Dude was also a part of Michael Angelo Batio’s band for a while. After hanging out with Steve Vai and MAB no wonder GMD became such a great guitarist. It would be almost impossible to fail haha.

I had dinner with GMD last night. I was telling him, to his credit, that it must have been so much harder back then to become a great player seeing that, like you said, you had to hang out with the greats to learn the great stuff. Nowadays, any kid can go on You Tube and learn all the trick stuff, which is why there are so many great kid players, especially Asian greats, and more specifically Japanese.

The 80s was one of my least favorite period for rock/metal music. It was all about how fast you could play and live we had those unending solos in the middle of the show and those endless big noisy builds at the end of the songs live. Never been a fan. I'll take one David Gilmour and give all the 80s shredders from Shrapnel records in exchange.
