I appreciate your wild PCB harvesting, reminds me of Marco Reps harvesting of wild-caught capacitors sniffed out by his dogs.

Nice little device, Signal generator is an absolute gimmick, they could do without it. - I wonder how long does the battery last. - What is voltage, frequency counter range? - What is basic accuracy and how many counts does this device have? Thanks for a great vid!

I try not to mess with SMD components. But it's inevitable! This looks like a fantastic tool to break out when needed!

Ronnie Pirtle Jr My wife makes SMD components at home with THT components and a rolling pin. It’s healthier and saves me quite a lot of money. Easier to solder too!

I asked Miniware and they responded. Miniware expects the DT71's to go on sale on the 20th of August 2020. With a price tag in the $XX USD price range.

These are nice tweezers. I agree with you that powering on to the last mode would be good. But I'd love to see an "option" if even at a extra cost and that is, where you can take the end off and it becomes a wireless system. One could place the little meter on the workbench and easily read it when not attached. I would NOT want an option where they do wireless, but to a smarphone and an app. That sucks. LOL
@BlondieSL2 жыл бұрын
Forget the tweezers! I want that PCB garden! LOL Seriously, I just cackled at that skit. Too funny. OH, you make the joke about SMD components being so small that one sneeze and they are gone. First, THAT'S TRUE! LOL Last week I was working on a Nextion LCD Display that had burned out SUPER TINY MINI OMFG THEY ARE SMALL LEDs. Of course, I have to use the electronic microscope to work on this. So I remove one of them with tweezers and place it onto the silicone work sheet. As I let go to open the tweezers, the tip of the tweezers just moved a bit, caught the edge of the (see above for LED size) LOL and PINGGGGGGGGGGGGGG! it was gone! It went flying! Working with SMD stuff is fun, but one must be careful.

My battery failed, won't hold a charge. Getting it replaced is a nightmare. Guess I'll design my own battery and tweezers as the battery can't be removed without breaking the device. Keep that in mind when purchasing!

Mate. Great video and very timely, given I'm about to take my first foray into SMD (read: I'm being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century!!). Any chance of a closer look at your camera/screen setup? Given my eye sight is rubbish due to old age, I will need some visual assistance. Have you tried other devices? (i.e maggy lamp, microscope, etc). Could be the subject of another video ;-)
@Schematix4 жыл бұрын
I'm delighted you enjoyed this video! I hear you about SMD components. It's a love/hate relationship. Love the end product, hate assembling it by hand! I've used maggy lamps & LCD digital microscope's. And by far the latter is much easier to use. I've owned mine for a while now but, haven't made a review yet. I'll put it on the soon to-do list

It's made by Hayear at least the one I have is, and it looks identical. Not cheap around $300. There are other ones under other names but have the identical form and button setup, presumably the same internals. They don't do it in China as we do in America. Ripping other people's designs off and slapping your own name on it is frowned upon and embarrassing in the West but in China, no big deal especially if you manage to produce it cheaper.

The tweezers are badly designed, very wobbly fastening of the measuring arms, it should be steel, not thin plastic like in a children's toy, there is no automatic polarity, uncomfortable touch button - a simple switch would be much better, very short operation after charging, inconvenient way of charging, product sucks, it spoils the nerves, I do not recommend it!
