I gotta tell you. Watching you create, is akin to watching a great chef preparing a master dinner. I haven't even gotten to the half way point of your video and was compelled to stop it and leave this comment. I don't know which I like best, the watching, or the reveal. It's like smelling fine cooking and drooling over the aroma and craving that first bite. Your creations are truly food for the eyes, and we all eat with our eyes. Thank you.

Rolf Hogfeldt wow that's some compliment ! Thanks for your appreciation of these demo videos it's always very welome to get such positive feedback. I started to post them with the intention of sharing a few simple techniques that can help others to explore creativity and offer a few helpful tips along the way, and I suppose starting with the right ingredients to begin with helps the process. Thanks for watching, much appreciated.

The tonal range and apparent "depth" in this finished piece is astounding! Bravo!

I love your work Dan & you are so generous of spirit with these techniques and ideas. I have spent many enjoyable hours tinkering about inspired by these little films. I really don't care very much about the finished product - l just enjoy the process - but just before Christmas I actually sold one of my pictures!! I feel like l owe you royalties mate!! Thanks a million Dan.

martinace1000 Congratulations on the sale ! I'm pleased that the demo has inspired you, when I hear how these short films encourage others to give it a try its very rewarding. I'm going to spend more time on the channel and will make more demos in the new year. I might introduce a gallery page on my website that will show the work of other artists inspired by these demos. Thanks for the feedback. New demo on the way later today.

Finished the video. What I find amazing is with the multiple templates you used, you managed to keep the continuity and flow of the entire piece all moving in the same direction. it's all breathing at the same time and in motion. Thanks. ..

Rolf Hogfeldt Thanks, I've recently joined all the templates used here together to make one large monoprint. I will make a multi- coloured version of this and will try to post a demo soon, as with most of these works I'm never sure how they will turn out but I look forward to working on this new larger print.

Memorizing, watching you work. Very kind of you to share your Outstanding artwork, and I for one appreciate it. Your inspiration in your work is simplistic, materials you chose to use are recycled, and the end results Are incredible. Wow

Only once you started to turn the whole thing around at the end did I see that all the smudging gave it tons of dimension. The whole time I just liked the mark making bits cuz they give such a creepy, old-timely feel but the rest was meh but then at the end- blew my mind. I’m just in awe. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your techniques and talent.

Thank you for sharing your art. It looks so easy, but what I learned, it is difficult to find the right preassure. Still have to practice a lot.
@DanTirels6 жыл бұрын
Sabine Wuttke Thanks I'm pleased that you find this new demo of interest. It is a technique worth practicing because the end results can be very satisfying. Best advice is try to use very little paint and smooth card is best for the paint effects. Good luck ! hope you continue to try this way of working.

I attended art school 35 years ago and I failed so miserably at oil painting I swore I would never touch oils again for the rest of my life. After watching a few of your monoprint demos I'm beginning to change my mind. Thank you for sharing your techniques. Would you mind if I ask what specific type(s) and brand(s) of paper you prefer to print on?
@DanTirels5 жыл бұрын
pooie0116 I was the same, I preferred to work with acrylic but have found this technique very useful, it's shown that there are more ways to work with oil paint other than the conventional. The paper I use is just a basic thick smooth card (220gsm) I'm experimenting with different surfaces such as canvas and primed wood to work on a larger scale. Thanks for watching and positive feedback.

Dan, Do you prepare the layouts to match the whole composition or do you just mix the layouts and see the final results?
@DanTirels3 жыл бұрын
A lot of planning and sketching out the original idea which is based on a larger composition of mine.

I have an allergy to oil paints. Can I achieve the same results with acrylic?
@DanTirels4 жыл бұрын
Yes if you use a retarder to slow the drying time.

Ed Todd I made this from a design based on a large abstract painting of mine. Just make from thin card covered with plastic parcel tape (the brown type) I will post a demo soon showing how to make your own.

Love the work, especially the painterly quality. What is the paper you use to press the ink down, it looks fairly soft and flexible but also strong.
@DanTirels5 жыл бұрын
Tunde Cockshott Thanks very much. The thin paper is actually plastic (recycled plastic bag) I use this because it can create interesting random texture and can be used many times, thanks for watching.

Do you sell your stencils? They are fabulous and unlike anything I have seen. Very tribal, ethnic and aboriginal.
@DanTirels5 жыл бұрын
Denise Simmonds No sorry I don't sell these, they are all designed and created for my own artwork. I've filmed a demo to show the process, and I'd recommend having a go at making your own, start with something simple. Hope this helps.

Dan Tirels Hello talented and kind man. I’ve just watched how you make those cool stencils...Thanks again so much for sharing your wonderful creativity 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 But just wondering how you clean those out without damaging them after you’ve used them...to reuse next time. Thanks again for being out there and inspiring me and so many others.
