The burial mounds are interesting. The continuity of use is impressive, however, so is the fact that they remained undisturbed for so long. The Spanish cave burials must hold the record for being in use the longest. Thanks Laura! Always great info.

It’s kind of strange because these landscapes are full of places that could be used but people were always drawn back for be same location. I do think there must have been some sort of cultural continuity.

Thanks Laura. It's interesting that we always think we know about the past, while we're always finding unexpected things from the distant past that can change that perception.

The common use of the burial sites by succeeding cultures really begs the questions, what cultural norms were held in common by these different peoples and what was the attraction to these particular locations? It's as though, like in modern history, the same lineage of people culturally evolved as their technology improved.

The first story in Germany really made an impact showing the thousands of years between different cultures and their eventual disappearances. They later peoples may not have known who their predecessors even were.

It’s really interesting and I suppose we still do that. Often sites get reused.

definitely worth the wait, kiddo......the necropolis segments were fascinating....that they were used for so long, especially the cave, shows the sites were very important to the folks who used them.....symbolic or practical? "religious?" perhaps all of these and more......more excavations may provide some clues. the clay tablet is quite interesting, too......those early middle east folks were quite prolific with their writings.....we've learned much about early civilization from their tablets, stelae, and other forms of bragging😂 their kings sure liked to brag about their accomplishments, battles and largess......which is good for us.....without all of these discoveries, we'd know virtually nothing of those eras.... ssssoooo, our dear Laura, never apologize for putting your daughter ahead of us.....explain, of course, but we, most of us, know, the baby, child, family of any sort, must be numero uno🤩 just the same, it IS always wonderful to have our Laura in the chat😍 see you next time, my dear👋👍 ✌❤🕊

If I was an ancient queen I would most definitely spend a lot of time dictating cuneiform brags to my assistants 😂 working on more videos as we speak 😃 oh and a tiny little short coming out tomorrow just for fun.

I am interested in burial mounds because I am a quarter California native. In the Bay Area, there are mounds comparable in size to the Great Pyramid of Egypt.

Not related to this video, but I just learned that a large meteor fell in northwest India around 2000 BCE, roughly halfway between Karachi and Ahmedabad. The crater - Luna Crater, not to be confused with a similar but *much* older Lonar Crater in central India - is bigger than Meteor Crater in Arizona. The consequences may not have been as bad as those of large volcanic eruptions, like Santorini; but the event must have been quite notable at the time. I wonder of there are record of it. It must have happened near the end of the Indus Civilization, which flourished just north of it. There is an ancient Hindu temple built on the edge, whose date I could not find. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luna_crater
