it seems to me in China it is harder for a single , divorced or married women to find work. She has to prove that she can handle family life and work too. She has to prove she is a fit mother and handle both worlds. I find that very disturbing, meanwhile the divorced husband gets away from been resonsiblilties for his children and leaves all the responsiiblities to the woman , how unfair is that. She gets this male interviewing her about been a responsible mom, give me a break. This is laughable, that male ego again wow. Lady got more b_ _ _ _ than him.

Also, i think that it is a film propaganda how good women should be: a kind of jack of all traits... In reality, i guess, modern chinese women are mainly strong and independent... However, the salary sise is usually, and we can say historically, like in any other country worldwide, was and is lower than men's remuneration. Women also can not do some better paid work which is still more difficult physically for women - this is in mining, construction etc. The housewife's labour is recognised as a peer labour in some few pioneering countries with corresponding social care, but not yet in Asias. Men-women roles are still to be better reflected worldwide, as the organised labour is almost everywhere but approaches to division, remuneration, luxury to cheat, deceive and be okeyed are still given mainly to men's side, while women are must-must-must/ought to do and be many things to men, their kins, kids, and bla-bla-bla...

I’m pleased with the ending and happy that the wife found happiness. For the two mistresses I couldn’t have been friends with either of them that’s just me! Once you burn me you are now untrustworthy!!! and I would be keeping my distance! for the other one who knowing took a husband away from his wife and child and married him she deserved way worse than just having a hard delivery and end to her marriage her heart was cold and she was completely shameless and her parents were disgusting to allow their daughter to continue such a shameful relationship!

Yep. Second one was as selfish as the husband and a spoiled brat. She also got all the marital property he had without doing anything for his home and family. She brought a servant along who was loyal to her and still looking down on him, while he was paying the salary. So while he didn't get the benefits he hoped to get by marrying her, she didn't lose much. Her parents didn't do much to stop her. Father could have gotten her fired and made her sit at home or get a job some place away in the beginning itself, and warned the guy too. He was one of the directors in their company after all. Mother too scolded her but very mildly. She never had real consequences or punishment for actions. Her tantrum when he mentioned his first wife while drunk couldn't get any sympathy for her. Not for me. He was married to that woman for over ten years and second wife was not the first woman he had affair with. But her family used it to snatch his property. Serves him and his parents right but she didn't deserve it.

Interesting, with beautiful characters! It is true that we quickly realize that it is only a summary and not the original version because there are really a lot of holes in the story. I really like this. I don't know if I could be friends with a mistress - but the SFL learned fairly quickly how two-faced the ML was. FL also realized she no longer loved the ML. SML super handsome. His character is interesting. Not great at direct communication, in fact he's quite hard on the FL verbally, but he supports her in other ways - getting her access to his lectures, following her plans, etc. Nice to see a nuanced character. Just found the full series on Viki, so switching over.

I just don't understand how she was able to become friends with the first mistress the way they acted and everything so was the first mistress a secretary or what was she because he did more extravagant things with her than he did with the second one or is the second one from a rich family? What ended up happening between them because I didn't see her in the ending with him and I think it was messed up how he took the daughter as leverage to get what he wanted
