I think the regular is better overal. The tropic is nice in the daylight but in the shadows it gets to dark and is very obvious where regular seems to blend in sunlight and shadow. I have noticed this about a lot of camo that is darker. It's too dark in the shadows and easy to spot.

***** If you take the same camo to the northern europe with a lot more fir-trees I would say that the tropical is better because it's a lot darker and greener and suits better there. It's all about what kind of woods you go to.

Pansar Yeah it's just a matter of time before they make adaptive clothing that changes to suit the environment. micro light diodes or something that changes the color spectrum .for like three hundred dollars a shirt. micro holograms or some shit. Then you'll be able to go from dry to tropical to arctic with a couple of batteries.

Pansar In coniferous forests, there's usually a lot of brown on the ground all year around (because there are few shrubs, and the ground itself is covered by decaying needles). Tropical won't necessarily blend well with that, it would be too dark and not matching the color. Regular Multicam, OTOH, is basically brownish in a dark environment, and actually blends pretty well both in terms of brightness and in color, though it would be better if it were slightly darker. MARPAT has the best proportion of not-too-dark green and coyote brown that matches that environment nicely.

+spicecrop You nailed it. Two reasons: - A lighter pattern can always be made to look slightly darker, but you cannot lighten a darker pattern. - Darker patterns often tend to merge into one dark blob of colour, whereas lighter patterns tend not to do this. Oddly enough, many/most green/woodland/jungle patterns are usually very dark, and often don't work that well as a result, even though their colour schemes "seem" well suited to the terrain. It's only when they become extremely faded that they start to perform much better.

Tropic is great for this environment!! Standard Multicam did well too. I am actually surprised at how dark the Tropic seems as well.

+MrLeonidas0001 Tactical Adventures Yeah, in the shadows it does darken up. With some sunlight coming through the brighter tones start to come out and it does pretty good.

I have the same observation. The standard MC works very well. I know that in an Alpine setting the MC works, but the Tropic is greener aned works better. I think mixing could work. I'd liek to see the Tropic in a real Tropical setting. good test guys. but I suggest, next time to camo up your faces.

great video. I think the problem with tropic is when you pass dark or shadow filled areas. The entire camo reduce into a near black and bring the silluhette to much in contrast with the area around you. But in places with light spots it works good. The regular multicam works pretty nice in all situations.

This camo works wonders though in ACTUAL jungles. I mean brazil, cambodia, vietnam. Original brown multicam is better suited to the “redneck jungles” of north carolina haha

Really interesting comparison, thank you very much for posting. The Tropic really does "blob out" under certain conditions and not just when silhouetted against the light. However it does do much better against direct sunlight than the standard. For me though the standard is better, it simply catches the eye less. Also, wearing standard in this woodland it wouldn't be hard to supplement the camouflage fabric using the natural environment to make it more effective.

The tropic is suited for the area it is named after.. the tropics. In sunlight, they are equal, in shadows (which are all over the place in the woods, tropic turns black. You need to be surrounded by extremely lush vegetation for tropic. If you are in the USA, multicam is better in 99% of situations. If you are in Costa Rica, wear tropic.

I feel like whenever multicam stuck out it was a lot more subtle and I'd only notice it if I were actively looking in which case I could likely identify the tropical but, when that one stood out, it could've gotten my attention. It did a lot better than I expected and there were a few times mulitcam's lack of green made it stand out a bit too much

Multicam tropic seems a little bit too dark. to slightly brighten to shade of greens would have helped. if you check you will notice that the greens present in the nature are always brighter.

most of the time, i don't go full multicam. its designed to be worn in conjunction with other patterns. i personally like to wear both multicam and erdl woodland, and in the surrounding woods where i live, all i have to do is take a knee and im gone. i think multicam tropic is a good balance but a little dark, so dont go too crazy with it.

Once the sun starts to set or on a cloudy day I would go with the Tropical.

Using multicam myself when i'm paintballing and it works great in light forests and semi open areas but fall a bit short in dark heavy forests, but what about mixing MC and MC tropic? As all my gear is MC it would be too expensive to get all new, to say Woodland for those some what few times it would "help" me. So keeping the vest and other equipment MC but chance the jacket and pants to MC Tropic should improve it some. Haven't gotten my hand on some MC Tropic yet so haven't gotten the chance to try it out. What's your opinion? have you tried mixing MCs?

Couldn't see the tropic when yall squatted or went prone. Could see it decently well when you were walking. However, the normal multicam seemed to do better when ya'll were walking. However, in low light conditions in the east coast like this I would think that the tropic would be quite a bit better.

A blend between the two would be great! The jacket should have just a little of the Tropical added and the pants a little more, to stay darker.

Nice camo test. I'd like to see MC Tropic tested versus Danish M84 and Pencott Greenzone but IMHO MCTropic is not that good...

+Airsoft Review Argentina MCTropic was designed for Jungle and Semi-Jungle environments but it is far too dark. Greenzone would work much better, also it being brighter, branches and other vegetation stands out a bit against greenzone, making it even better. It gives you that extra breakup.

I really want to like MC Tropic, but Original MC destroyed it even in this environment...tropic was just way too dark. I paused the video and randomly handed my phone to my wife, and without hesitation she said the tropic stood out immediately. Tropic only showed effectiveness in this video when in direct sunlight. Good video tho

MC Tropic really works best in true triple canopy jungle conditions. We don’t really have that in the continental US.

I'm surprised , the regular multicam seems to do better until you lay down then tropic seems better but i would say overall the regular mc is the better pattern even in woodland terrain , i have used marpat woodland for some time and it doesn't even seem to work as well as regular mc in woodland terrain most of the time

Multicam is bit better in my opinion all thoough scorpion ocp is way more superior to both since it has more green in its pattern. Tropic is nice for when sun starts to go down and night operations. Its just to dark for daylight. If they replaced the dark brown and dark greens with shade of lighter it would have been perfect.

I did this was ATACS FG - it worked wonders. It looked as if my MC gear was dirt, bark, and random pieces of whatever, while my limbs blended in with foliage, completely removing the human silhouette.

Aor2 outperforms both in that environment but of those 2 patterns regular multicam performed better overall from what i seen , i had considered trying mc tropic until i watched this video lol

Not a big fan of any type of military camo pattern. Some of the best camo are used by hunters and they have very little green. Some of my best hunting clothes here in Florida are only tan and browns and a tad of black. No green at all. Most places green makes up 25-35% of your surroundings. Then what are you left with? I wore military camo for 25 years. I won’t wear it ever again.

Way too dark, the tropic has failed. The multicam is softer on the eyes. Takes on shadows better. Multicam wins this one. I think the all terrain tiger stripe would have been good too.
