I really appreciate your opinions on the trend plotting. Your video was the only one I could find that went over that feature well. Thanks!

Interesting, our mains voltage has "remained" at 220v as far as I know but that of course fluctuates depending on conductor run and loads.
@CampKohler12 жыл бұрын
The nominal U.S.A. voltage is 120. Code usually requires no more than a 3% drop due to conductor runs, but that is fixed and should not cause "fluctuations" if the load is constant. I was wondering why the nominal voltage has migrated upward since the early 1900s.
@Ryantron900012 жыл бұрын
The range is usually set by your power company, It fluctuates based on how long the service drop is, and conductor size. I believe the official target is 110 v +/- 5%

I think the lighting issues was do to the frame rate of the camera and the frequency of the LED lights....I will try to resolve. Thanks.

I wish I had looked at the specs more closely, got me a 8845A, but now I cant measure temperature. Would even trade my 8845A with some money on top to get your 8846A.

Is it possible to data log both current and voltage at the same time with this multimeter and then output to a csv file to analyse in a spreadsheet?

I love your technical videos - thank you! Has the LAN connection feature on this meter become useful in the last two years since the video? Is there now some Fluke software available that uses the connection?

hello, is there any button to switch between LOCAL and REMOTE modes on Fluke 8846a?

Has your nominal mains voltage changed over the years? In the U.S., voltage moved through 107, 110, 115, 117 and now 120, and you can see 125 volts at times. Who directs the changes and why? Note: Motors stuck at the 115/230-volt level to allow for voltage drop in the feeding conductors.

Just a guess but maybe a trend to avoid brownout level voltages on appliances and electric motors. Most motors seem to take 10% over voltage easily a 10% under voltage is a another story probably utilities wishing to avoid equipment brownout voltage damage claims.

what's the difference between 0,999 V or 0,99883527297 V In which field of electronic is such precision required ?
@FooBar897 жыл бұрын
yes, the test tools are electronics too, how do you think you get to read the 0.999 accurately?
@AIexanderHartdegen5 жыл бұрын
this precision is used to see deviation cause to the heat, seebeck effect, noise added on line, and any changement on the signal. The high accuracy is used to understand a time ratio, including the pourcentage of deviation according to the signal changement measure. This is a mainly scientific meter, sometime used to see changement, more than to measure a signal itself.

I'm using an 8845A to read AC and DC voltages and currents on my machine. I'm noticing that when I try to read AC current it takes a while for the signal to stabilize on a value (approx 5 sec or so). I'm using this in a production line, so I'm trying to cut down on wasted time. I guess it is sampling values so that it can determine the rms number, but when I take my handheld fluke 115 in series with it, it responds much faster. Any suggestions? or is this as good as it is going to get? AC voltage, DC voltage, and DC current are awesome at around a 1 sec response time. Just thought I would get your opinion on it. Thanks, Range = 2 amps Resolution = 0.0001 amps Bandwidth = 20 Hz

Does this Fluke come with Software, specifically i want to graph. even if transfer data in .cvs format, i could always create a graph in excel?

In the Netherlands it went from 220 to 230 (EU standard)... (and waaaay back it was 127v)

400V between phases and 400V / sqrt(3) ~230V between phase and neutral/ground. It's easy to remember.
