József Nagy, I must say, I'am very surprised. I, like all people, had lots of teachers, but I always thought what it would be like if I were on the other side teaching, explaining something to someone else. How would I best optimize the time of the outher person? You sir are what I what to be in terms of explaining . What a fucking great tutorial! I'am depressed and stuck in my house in Portugal with this coronavirus out there, over a week, thinking that I have to start to build my case in openFoam and I watch this peace of art. @pamelacastillo66672 жыл бұрын
Mr. Nagy, thank you for your videos. I would like to ask a question regarding the boundary conditions using the solver "interFoam". I am doing a 3D simulation of the flow of an open channel. The primary requirement is that the simulation should follow the "continuity law". For this modeling, I am using an inflow of 20.6 m3/s with a U inlet boundary condition type "variableHeightFlowRateInletVelocity" , and a U outlet boundary condition type "inletOutlet and an inletValue = uniform (0 0 0). Also, for the pressure file, I am using for the atmosphere type "totalPressure" and for the outlet type "zeroGradient". Finally, an alpha.water condition type "variableHeightFlowRate" with lowerBound and upperBound with 0 to 0.1849 respectively, where this 0.1849 represent the relationship between the total height of my inlet and the water level. My question is that the simulation is running, and looking at the hydrograph at the inlet is a constant line that represents the 20.6 m3/s, so far I think this is right, but in the outlet hydrograph, the outflow is an increasing curve which its maximum value is around 70 m3/s. So I do not know what is wrong with my model, because there is just one inlet and one outlet, so there is not any other water inflow and the flow at the outlet may be 20.6 m3/s as well as the inlet. Thank you in advance for your reply!
@OpenFOAMJozsefNagy2 жыл бұрын
An idea would be to monitor the mean value of alpha in the domain over time, also to monitor the mean and max velocity in the entire domain over time and see where you accumulate mass flux. I hope this helps.

Hi. Do you know how to treat a T-junction (Two-phase water-air) case? It is a case that generates bubbles. I'm not sure about the mathematical equations, would you please show them to me? It would be a incompressible laminar situation.
@OpenFOAMJozsefNagy7 жыл бұрын
Well this is a very specific question and I would have to invest several hours into it. I know, that there is a T-junction case on wiki.openfoam.com/Tutorials but it is not a two-phase flow. You could start from there and modify the case accordingly.

Could you please help me to unstuck this?

I think to have found the solution (at least it is working this way). Let me share it, hoping to be helpful. Simply, I found the gedit.exe in "~/blueCFD/OpenFOAM-5.x/bin/tools/gedit/bin/" folder, so, inside the "*.sh" files given in the tutorial, i wrote down "~/blueCFD/OpenFOAM-5.x/bin/tools/gedit.exe", instead of only "gedit". Then I even tried to copy paste the notepad++.exe (because I prefere it) in the "OpenFOAM-5.x/bin" folder, and it works too.

Hi József, thx for sharing the step-by-step video & i hv learnt a great deal from you!! I hv tried this tutorial of yours. Out of curiosity, i modified it to become a water filling up a tank problem by the following 3-steps: 1> invert the gravity effect direction 2> U at '0' for Outlet to "noSlip;" (as pipe & tank) 3> p_rgh at '0' for Outlet to "fixedFluxPressure;" (as pipe & tank) OpenFOAM refused to run, saying "FOAM FATAL IO ERROR". When i used back your original case with only 2-steps above 1> & 2>, it seems that the water is flowing out of 'Outlet'. Can u pls advise what should the p_rgh be for Outlet be in order that my above 3-steps can work? Hope to hear from you soon... Million thanks!!
@OpenFOAMJozsefNagy7 жыл бұрын
Well, since interFoam is an incompressible solver you need somewhere an outlet otherwise you would compress the fluid and this is not in the model. Try placing an outlet somewhere. Maybe even modify the stl files a bit.

Ok, i will try that, Jozsef. Thx a lot!
