its entirely explained that when time crosses paths like this theres a certain amount of amnesia, or of course the past version would remember for when the future version meets them!
@dreammachine86 Жыл бұрын
@@pemo2676 Yes, that is a very clever way the writers have chosen to be able to incorporate multiple Doctors at once into a story. Otherwise it would be pointless and there would be no suspense, as the current incarnation would know exactly when they would encounter the previous incarnation and exactly what happened/is going to happen from their point of view. So whatever problem they are trying to solve or enemy they are facing, the current Doctor would simply just know when their previous incarnation turns up and how it all turns out. I suppose in a way it's a form of the Bootstrap Paradox i.e a time loop. Say I'm a time traveller and at age 30 I want to go back in time and tell myself something when I was age 20. Well I'd already know that I'm going to do that and what I say to myself from both points of view, as my 30 year old self would have the memories of my 20 year old self, and my 20 year old self would know that in 10 years time I'm going to do this. In fact if time travel is possible (whether in real life or fiction) and it works on the Bootstrap Paradox principle then from my point of view that would be evidence that there is no free will and everything that ever happens in any point in time is pre-determined. Just like my example above, my 30 year old self would *have* to go back to meet my 20 year old self if that memory exists. There would be no choice about it, that is just something that will always happen and has always happened depending on the time of reference. By coming up with the whole 'memories don't sync when Doctors cross their own timeline' thing then it allows the writers to do all sorts of stuff they couldn't otherwise. And the fact that the Doctor has multiple forms from his regenerations each with their different little traits and personalities makes it a whole lot more interesting when they do have meetings of multiple Doctors. I don't think they ever explain why these memories don't sync, it could have been explained as something to do with regeneration but there have been stories where it's been the same Doctor interacting with himself from different points in time and the memories only sync up when the meeting actually happens. So I think it just is a quirk of the physics of time travel in the Dr Who universe, at least with Time Lord tech. Although to be fair they haven't always been consistent with the physics/constraints of time travel - sometimes we get stories that use the Bootstrap Paradox/time loop and other times we get stories where 'time can be rewritten'. The latter can result in time travellers having knowledge of multiple timelines; if they go back in time to change something and return to the time they left then things may be different but they would remember the original timeline too. Throw something like a Time War into the mix and things get really confusing, the poor Doctor would have memories and knowledge of so many different timelines but also due to the memory syncing limitation, also potentially not know about a timeline he was involved in like not knowing he saved Gallifrey and believing he was responsible for its destruction until he gets to the relevant incarnation.

In SJA, 11th doctor said that he visit all of his companions, and proud to all of them, before his regeneration. Various media stated that before Second doctor changes, he has gotten into a few adventures before regeneration takes place.

I'd be cool with that, so far ut just being a 10th doctor RTD special is just disappointing and annoying. @@DigitalCrate I wouldn't mind it if it wasn't an anniversary special, as anniversary specials are meant to celebrate the whole show not just one small era of the show. Of it was part of the anniversary and we get separate specials with other doctors I wouldn't mind it but anniversary just focusing in the returning showrunner's era just doesn't work for me, it feels more like the anniversary got highjacked by one showrunner who wants to relive solely their greatest hits at the expanse of the rest of the shows history. Not to mention it's probably the last time that we can have several of the remaining classic doctors appear, so I'll just be watching and thinking about how with two anniversary specials with new who and both of them completely wasted the opportunity to use any of the classic era doctors while they could, so much wasted potential because the showrunner wanted to do a greatest hits of his own era instead. If anything I'm viewing 13's last episode more as the anniversary because it actually seems to be more like an anniversary special and celebrating different eras of the show with companions from various eras returning not just one.

Unfortunately Christopher Eccleston has stated that he never truly "felt" like the Doctor. Long story short, being the Doctor left a sour taste in his mouth. He's recently come back for Big Finish Audio Dramas, but will likely, and unfortunately, never be seen on screen again. While he may not realize that he basically brought Doctor Who back in full force, having David Tennant basically overshadow Eccleston's performance in Series 1, it may be a personal issue

I know it's so kind of impossible but 4/5/6/7/8/12 are getting up there in age & we need them back more than most. Y'know, I know a lot of 13's stories were pretty weak by comparison to other doctors, but the Fugitive Doctor definitely stood out as one of the better or most interesting concepts introduced. I know the answer to her existence that the show was trying to hint at was that she was just one of a huge amount of pre-Hartnell incarnations, but even then they left it severely underexplored to the point where it's not even entirely clear if that's the case? I hope that Jo Martin comes back some day and the Fugitive Doctor is one of those rare multi-doctor, multi-showrunner story threads or characters that lives on for a while like River Song or the Brigadier that just pops up every now and again. Whether Jo does turn out to be pre-Hartnell, or between 2 and 3, or something else entirely, she had the Doctor energy and I feel like her incarnation deserves more screen time.

48:55 Well, if that's not proof that the Timeless Child arc is 100% nonsense. Yes, this could make sense as before the 1st Doctor, he wasn't "The Doctor" yet. He changed his name to that in his 1st (or so he thought) incarnation. Yet Ruth introduces herself as The Doctor to the 13th Doctor. So clearly she was using that name long before having her memories wiped and being forced to regenerate into a younger version of the 1st Doctor. IT MAKES NO SENSE! Oh, and don't even get me started on Ruth having a police box TARDIS way before the 1st doctor stole a TARDIS and it THEN changed into a police box. There are only 3 options as to how that makes any sense: 1) He stole the same one he had previously used that was damaged because of him, and he forgot, and it turns out it can only be disguised as a police box or in its original form, and he just so happened to land in the 1960s. A perfect time for the only other disguise the TARDIS could do to take effect, and the TARDIS also never uses its original form again, even though it can. This is extremely unlikely as, although he didn't technically pick a random TARDIS as Clara pointed it out to him, it would mean that either Clara was extremely lucky in her randomness, or she knew about the previous incarnations of the Doctor in that form and thus when Clara got all the memories of the other lives (pretty sure she did), why would she not have told the Doctor this vital information about his past? 2) The TARDIS that our Doctor has now, saw what she had before the 1st Doctor, and decided to copy the other TARDIS she used back then. This would also mean that both TARDISes had a broken chamelon arch. So quite unlikely. 3) It was the same TARDIS, but, before the 1st Doctor, the TARDIS saw into the Doctor's future and saw they would come to like the police box design and so, chose it for them before they were even the 1st Doctor. Even though the chameleon arch was broken, the Timelords still managed to reset its exterior shell appearance; then after the 1st doctor stole it, the reset was undone. Likely because it wasn't parked in the faulty TARDIS area anymore. This still requires the Doctor to have landed in the 1960s on his first trip, which is the perfect place for the only working disguise the TARDIS still has. The TARDIS could've chosen this place for him, though, as we know, she likes to choose places for the Doctor to travel to. We also know the TARDIS creates backups of future console rooms, so doing the same for exteriors would be perfectly reasonable to assume. The TARDIS then logically installed this backup sometime while the previous incarnations owned it. This would also mean the whole design of the TARDIS is a bootstrap paradox, and considering the nature of Doctor Who, this is clearly the most logical option. Still, though, none of it makes any bloody sense.

Still... Really wish Chris showed up for this Episode. Would been great to shown (my theory anyway) the personalities of the Doctors reasons, where I always figured since Chris was too traumatized recent of what he did during the War, why he could never be ruthless and since he didn't want Rose to be alone, he needed to be more selfish and self preserving why he had that personality while maintaining his base persona of the love of humans, where he'd always have the fascination. Where Matt is the more attempt at innocence and almost a reset on the huge hole left by all prior companions, so he attempts to become more adapted for a smaller amount of companions, hence when he realized he kept getting mistaken for young, he went to Capaldi and (So much more but just as one example), after falling for Missy he figured to have her wildness on his mind along with River, so influenced and (number of other details) he went on to 14 ( i think or was it 13)

I think I have just realised something. It CANNOT make sense for the Jo Doctor's TARDIS to look like a Police Box since that happened during the First Doctors time, in the first episode of Doctor Who in fact. So it is impossible for both... 1. The Jo Doctor to be before the First Doctor. 2. Her Tardis to look like a 1960's Police Box. Only one of those things can be the truth based on what we see in her episode.
