I have to say, your videos make me feel somewhat nostalgic for a life once lived. Whilst no Class 1 driver, I drove across the UK in a 7.5 tonne box. I know, not at all the same, but some things compare. To give some context; I graduated from university in 2001, needed to make some money, could drive a 7.5-tonner on my 1996 licence, figured I'd work as much as I could doing something I loved - driving. I was up at the crack of GodKnowsWhen every Monday. I would pack myself up for the week as, tramping, I didn't know if I'd make it back home until the weekend. My Mercedes Atego had EVERYTHING; I bought a TV, a DVD player, heightened roof, sunroof, sleeper cab, food storage, fridge/freezer. Being before GPS + satnav, had atlases (atlai?) and city guides for all the major cities, but having toured most cities with my band I already sort of knew my way around and how to get from there to, well...there. Once I was packed up on Monday, I was ready to go. I had a regimented radio plan, talkSport in the morning, Mark and Lard on Radio 1 in the afternoon, XFM if around London. I went - literally - from Hull to London to Cornwall to Birmingham to Hull (two days), then reload, sleep in the yard, then up to Scotland, until back home for Friday PM/Saturday AM, then pick up my car, and spend the weekend with my then-girlfriend in York. Then go again Monday. I loved my truck life. And I miss it so much. Yes, you can argue - on paper - modern life is better; I'm a shipbroker, I live in The Netherlands, I am financially better-off than ever. But...I was never happier than when I pulled into Penrith truck stop on a Wednesday night, able to take a working/hot shower, ahead of the run to Thurso and back down. All the time, I'd seen the most amazing scenes, listened to music I was reviewing for Teletext (I was a freelance music journalist also at the time), and driving. I salute you, Jemma.

super videos Jemma but I suggeast that you wear a mask when sweeping out the trailer after a dusty cargo. Probably seems okay at the moment but it will manifest itself when you are older. Not many bother but Asthma and a nasty cough could result.

Retired farmer and Class 1 holder for coming up to 47 years, you are clued up on your varieties of spuds!! Stumbled across your videos last night and I share your experiences. Carted grain in my retirement to Camgrain stores so I find we have a lot in common. Also sugar beet in the winters to Wissington in Norfolk - 4 am starts in the days when the speed limit was 40 mph but was ignored to get the job done!!

Love watching your channel. You are so professional. A credit to your industry. I spent my life as a coach tour driver doing long haul European work with trailer attached. So difficult to remember all the tachometer and driving regulations and so easy to fall foul of the law. Thankfully I never had anything other than a warning. But you make it all look so easy. Well done you. And I cannot finish without saying you are the most beautiful truck driver I have ever seen in my life. Love and respect 👍❤️

Take care and always a save trip.

Hi Jemma, you give the image of being incredibly patient when you are confronted with delays or grumpy loader drivers. Kudo's to you for the informative and interesting web-site. I'm a retired master mariner and I loaded millions (yes millions) of tons of grains, ores and hydrocarbons over 45 years at sea, It's interesting to get an insight into the other side of the transport industry. Road-transport as opposed to sea-transport. Picking your way down country lanes is like me navigating shallow coastal channels line Mallacca Straights and the Dover Straights. You describe your job well. Beverly

And yes the corner in Uffculmes a bit tight and the yards not much better when it was busy. Looks like im officially retired now dont know if i will ever drive a truck again.

Nice video😍 lots of respect when you're driving in those narrow streets or tight places att the farmers. I have tip for you: when you're finished for the day, put also the second driver on the bed. The next morning it starts counting as soon as you start to drive. By that way you can always see how many hours you've worked. You don't have to push on anything during the day (second driver) Hope you understand what i mean?
