Algebra I on Khan Academy: Algebra is the language through which we describe patterns. Think of it as a shorthand, of sorts. As opposed to having to do something over and over again, algebra gives you a simple way to express that repetitive process. It's also seen as a "gatekeeper" subject. Once you achieve an understanding of algebra, the higher-level math subjects become accessible to you. Without it, it's impossible to move forward. It's used by people with lots of different jobs, like carpentry, engineering, and fashion design. In these tutorials, we'll cover a lot of ground. Some of the topics include linear equations, linear inequalities, linear functions, systems of equations, factoring expressions, quadratic expressions, exponents, functions, and ratios.
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.
For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything

"what is a n open or closed circle" >> Closed circle represent that the point is included in the interval and open circle represent the concerned point is not included in the interval. For example the interval [1,2) will be represented by a closed circle at 1 and an open circle at 2. " How did -0.5 become -2 ??" >> No, we want to cancel -0.5 by multiplying it by a number, let us call it x. Cancelling means, we want something like x instead -0.5x, and x or 1*x are the same. So, x*(-0.5)=1 or x=1/(-0.5)=-10/5=-2.

Do you know how to solve an inequality that is 12 greater than or equal to 6s?
@omarhatem9575
@omarhatem9575 4 жыл бұрын
(you probably don't need to get the answer to this after 3 years, but here goes) Okay. Let us do this one step at a time. 12≥6s. We want to isolate the s in one side. We do this by dividing both sides by 6 (the coefficient of s). 12÷6≥6s÷6 Since we are dividing by a positive number we do not flip the greater than or equal sign. All there is left to do is simplify. 2≥s which is equivalent to s≤2 (our solution)
