Medicines that work through a principle known as induced proximity could represent a sea change in drug design. Instead of trying to grapple with difficult targets on their own, these molecular matchmakers get powerful friends to do the heavy lifting.

Nearly every drug made has two big things in common.
First, drugs are designed to zero in on a specific protein, which is the target of the drug. 2nd is that the drug itself has to bind to the protein and alter its normal activity.
Many proteins that we are fighting are what's known as undruggable. They don't have anything for the drugs to bind too.
This is why Amgen believes that the future of drug design is in multi-specific medicines that work through induced proximity.
Amgen's Ray Deshaies narrates an animated look at this new paradigm in action.
