Thank you very much for the comment. So glad to know you really liked my videos. The only way to speak fluent English is to practice speaking regularly. You will not be fluent initially, but you will get better slowly. You can also practice speaking out loud at home. Just start with a small paragraph (with 2-3 sentences). Check the correct pronunciation of the key words at Dictionary.com. Read it out loud and record it on your phone. Play it and see if you got the pronunciation right. Another thing you can do is to listen to your favourite news channel (American/British). Listen to 2-3 sentences and the mimic the person (mainly the pronunciation).

Do you find age makes a difference or it really doesn't have anything to do with age? The reason I'm asking is because that now I am 54, I have depression, I find it difficult to concentrate and/or to focus. So I am trying to find out how to get better. Not sure if you have heard of Barbara Oakley the author of Learning How To Learn and there's even a free class online worth taking for people like myself.

Thanks for the comment. As far as memory is concerned, age is not always a barrier. In my classes, I had many participants who were more than 70 years old and could improve memory. I plan to create more memory improvement videos soon.

@Nishant Kasibhatla : please do a video on how to focus on multiple things at a time because its much needed in a workspace where we have to check mails and reply mails and at the same time I have to keep on a tab of what my subordinates are doing(over a walkie talkie) in addition to people barging in(part of work). Your quality input is much appreciated 🙏 I love the idea of single tasking but what if ur work is demanding multitasking and we are supposed to manage people and work simultaneously Im already a follower of you and your methodology 🙏

I know how it feels! I have added your request to my list and I will work on a video on this. For the time being, you can try some of these things: - Allocate times for email checking/replying. It could be one time slot in a day, or could be a lot more. It depends on the type of your work. Constantly checking email every minute or two is surely not a good idea. - Divide all your work into projects. If you count every thing you have to do at work, it might look like you have 20 things. However, can you categorise them into, say, 4 projects? Emails, team updates, etc etc. That will make it much easier to manage. And you can allocate time slots for each projects. - Set rules, communicate the rules to your team members so people will not be interrupting you a lot (or the other way too!). These are a few idea that you try.

Food is a good topic for another video. Thanks for asking this question. For the time being, just know that some foods 'may' help in your memory. However, I suggest you focus on improving your memory using memory techniques (see my other videos on this channel). Also, there is no evidence that vegetarians have a good memory!

Great time worthy video. Sir, i have two questions that keeps me confusing all the time. 1. What is the maximum amount of time on average that i can spent on a task(input task)? 2. I do multitasking for suppose reading a book and pause , started watching a video which is completely different from the reading i was doing before and repeating it, this doesn't make me feel bored than reading a book for long time. And i gaining experience in this multitasking where i feel like one day i will master all my 3 R's which u mentioned. any suggestions on my thought?
@nishant.kasibhatla
@nishant.kasibhatla 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Here are the answers for your questions: 1. There is no ideal time for each session, because it depends on a lot of factors. I suggest a 40-50 min session to begin with. 2. What you are doing is not a good thing if you want to better retention and recall. It's true that mixing up tasks can be 'fun', but that will negatively affect your focus, comprehension and recall. I suggest choosing one task and setting a timer for 40 mins and just do that thing. Wishing you the best!

I think part of the reason multitasking has become so prevalent is because we have lost our hierarchy of values. Think about the way things have been in the past, where religion usually occupied the pinnacle of values. Now there isn't a single religion in the world that I know of where it would make sense for the supplicant to multitask in the act of prayer. People don't struggle with this either, because it is an accepted high value activity to which full attention is devoted without FOMO. I am not suggesting that religion is needed for focus (it isn't the only source of value hierarchy), rather that hierarchy of values naturally provide us with a metric for focus. Western culture is today floundering in a value-system vacuum brought on by various mechanisms, and such we naturally behave like kids in a candy store where everything looks like an equal-value candy. Before we can move on to asserting better attention, we'll have to come up with a system by which we can determine what is and isn't worthy of attention. Otherwise we are back to square one (e.g. what good would it do if we single-tasked on watching Vines?)
@nishant.kasibhatla
@nishant.kasibhatla 4 жыл бұрын
That IS deep! And yes, I totally agree with your logic about using single-tasking only on things that add value to one's life. Like all powerful tools/systems, one needs to know when and where to use those tools to get the desired result. Thanks for the comment.

@nishant.kasibhatla
@nishant.kasibhatla 5 жыл бұрын
In your case, it's fine. However, if you are doing this too often, then it could become a distraction. One idea is to scan the book before you read and see how difficult the text is. If you see too many unfamiliar words, then take a moment and look up the definition of the words before you begin reading. Wish you the best!

Over A period of time my memory is Decreased Sharply due to certain issues and depression is there any way to regain that short of memory again which I have 2 years before.
@nishant.kasibhatla

You may have experienced a lot of forgetting in the past. However, if you practice association, visualisation and train your brain, you can surely improve your memory. Having said that, if you experience memory loss because of a medical problem / diagnosis, then you should consult a doctor / medical professional.

Thanks for watching! It's not really possible for anyone to remember anything unless they have registered it. I think that one of the main reasons why Swami Vivekananda has a great memory, is because he exercised his memory power by regularly committing new things to memory, and my recalling it frequently (either mentally, or to his disciples).
