I personally use the D pad bc i dont like the directional imputs from the analog stick. Use a D pad you know what imput your pressing always..its pretty nice ngl..the only bad thing about it is any move that require aiming something. Like the whip would be really weird to aim for example. So i still got my analog maped aswell for anything like that. Im horrible at aim projectiles tho so i rarely use it.

Personnal tip for people who can't dodge out of combos, a lot of combo can't be escaped if you mash directionnal dodge, you have to use neutral air dodge, a good way to use it easily is to map one shoulder button to neutrade evade. This way you can easily SDI out of combo AND neutral air dodge

I agree with the first point you made. I see a lot of players do that. But when I play with inexperienced players they don’t know that a simple down air would kill. They want to add an extra move to solidify it but it doesn’t work like that. I had to Learn that the hard way. When the game first dropped and I started to play competitively, I lost a lot of games because of that rookie mistake.

It's even worse on 2v2 as well. Sometimes your teammates kill will get negated by the weaker attack you launch

I play using only shoulder buttons and sticks on a Switch Pro Controller. -Special Attacks set to L (L1) -Jump set to ZR (R2) -Right stick set as basic directional attacks -Right stick button (R3) is neutral attack Very easy to Down Air or Neutral air or do Special Attacks immediately after short hopping with R2 assigned as jump. Like a surprise Jake house when they'd least expect it lol. Feels and moves very smooth and you have more control over yourself.

I think the only other question I would ask would be the setting for the horizontal deadzone. I know for myself, I tend to rely on the right stick if I want to be more precise with attacks since if I use the stick, I tend to find myself looking in the other direction suddenly and whiff attacks. Don’t know if something additional should be set to it (to increase it more) or if perhaps I might be controlling the characters incorrectly. I would also guess the controller too to clean it (but I do enjoy playing with an elite controller, I recently got so I like to think it isn’t the issue). Other than that, a good set of tips to know about. Still enjoy having the shoulder buttons for neutral attacks since it does help to simplify some attacks when you want to use them instead of the tilted attacks. Keep of the great work.

My biggest struggle with controls so far is when trying to do an up special attack, my input often does a side special because I'm trying to position under my opponent then do the up special.

Try remapping your movement to your d pad if you’re comfortable with it. I had the same issue and it helped me a ton.

I prefer analog over d-pad l cause it’s easier to reverse. But at the same time it’s too easy to the point that I reverse unintentionally a lot. Especially with reindog.

Yeah it helps with accidental mis inputs. But it also depends on your controller. Like ps4 and PS5 deadzones will feel different than Xbox

The bots tip is very good, i didnt know this. But i would like the xp you get after you did al your dailly achievments to be higher. If you completed this you almost get nothing for winning fights and i would like to finish this battle pass.

If your attack is canceling the knock back of the previous attack you're doing it too soon. Morty has dair to up air if done too early will save them but with proper timing it will add to the knock back and kill them even earlier than normal.

dodge in place, forward or backwards dodge in the air can get you hit easily. just dodge while not moving in the air to fall out of her combos at the earliest positions

I play with the D pad but for some reason some times when playing it simply stop working. Like mid match my character would just stand still so I have to use the analog making my movement significantly worse. Does this happen to anyone else?

Bro this directional pad was all I needed, I wish I knew about this sooner, it really change my game flow, but yea the character and game will glitch, the worse one of all is where my character and game stop while I was off the cliff and next thing I know my character aready fell of the Cliff. It’s a bummer but I believe the next update will fix it. I wish smash had that option years ago

Personally I prefer doing bots with a character till around level 11 so I have majority of my stuff unlocked before real people.

An alternative button. That way you can have, say, the "dodge" button as both LT and RT, for example

I have a video on how to fix that. But basically, in your steam library, right click multiversus, click properties, go to controller, then "disable steam input" save and you are good to go.

I never said it was Impossible to be good with default controls. Just saying that mapping your buttons can provide an easier approach for some people. Why are you so defensive about this? Lol. I didn't tell people to map it to MY BUTTONS or else you will lose.... but to map it to their comfortable liking and experiment. Nothing wrong with that. Do you use the L1 and R1 buttons for projectiles and neutral attacks?

The first tip is horrible game design. Your knockback shouldn't be decreased by attacks that are hitting you in the same direction as you are already flying.
