And it's still not the worst. IIRC: In X-Men Next Dimension, Sabertooth has a 100-0 matchup VS Gambit in anything other than 1 round matches. Gambit becomes actionable later in rounds 2 onwards, and Sabertooth has a glitchy command grab that can grab someone off the ground from anywhere, allowing him to combo it infinately. Also, there's one specific version of Street Fighter 2 where Zangief can frame one a spinning piledriver on E Honda, then go for a safe jump in, low, SPD, and there's nothing the Honda can do about it. (And he can do that combo in most versions, it's just only one starts you within range for the grab on round start.)

Yeah, I love Marvin, one of the coolest characters I’ve ever played in a platform fighter. However, he’s made like the devs are afraid of him. Marvin is a setup character, that’s what makes him an assassin. He requires you to use his tools efficiently in order to get a kill with rocket. His entire concept is that he’s an assassin with low kill potential outside of his actual rocket setups, where his kill power comes from. This is fine, until you compare him to other characters. Other characters, who aren’t even assassins half the time mind you, can easily kill at way lower percents. Marvin has to set up and protect the always vulnerable space ship and land a full setup to even think about killing someone with the idea of being a great kill confirm when pulled off, and as a trade off for having big risk/reward as the core of his kit, he has a pretty cruddy neutral game with 0 kill potential. His good moves either have cooldowns or are SUPER committal (bad for a very very squishy character) and he is extremely easy to kill due to his weight class. Then Shaggy shows up, with a good neutral, powerful and effective moveset with good kill potential and frame data and screen control, and is in a decent weight class and he just casually bags a kill off of accidentally landing a side kick way lower than Marvin ever could. They’re afraid to give Marvin the kit he’s built for. He’s a setup assassin, he’s about payoff, and they’re afraid to give him that payoff to the point he is actively not benefiting from the risk/reward. Messing up rocket setups should be a huge deal, because of its long cooldown combined with Marvin’s kit. Landing a rocket setup should net you a reward that gives a bigger payoff than a top tier characters basic drawbackless movesets landing a bnb combo lol. Let him kill early, please. Right now he’s a walking cooldown with 0 neutral and 0 kill potential, and that’s not cool man

As a Marvin main, I promise you don’t need space invader. Just have good spacing and he won’t be able to get in at all. I had Iron Giant players give up and jump off the map intentionally on rank because of the blaster.

@@katsuLucas true but none of the zones are s tier or A tier. Maybe Tom and Jerry. This game has the weakest zoners in fighting game history, if you can’t deal with them then it’s a skill issue. Most of the characters have moves that hard counter zoning. Even the dodge mechanic is a perfect counter to zoning.

there's a lot more to the marvin and IG matchup and it's all in favor for marvin, down tilt and down air are some very honorable mentions for marvin because it makes edgeguarding IG a breeze and can make it to where IG can't get back on stage and just bleed his fuel dry, Air side special is also really good for following up on hits because it hits so much earlier than you'd expect and can be very difficult to dodge with IG, only real counterplay Ig has is microing the hell out of protective momentum and at that point it's a bandaid on a decapitation and that's on top of all the other projectiles marvin has with the rockets and orbs and generally good disjoints for him, been saying it day one marvin is the antichrist for IG

Calling giant 'the best character in the game' isnt even close to being true once you start paying attention to his matchups and all the nerfs he received. A lot of the cast, giant will struggle against. Superman and stripe completely disable giant with aerials to the point its comparable to your odds of winning as marvin against giant, he struggles against small or slim characters (arya harley gizmo steven marvin taz and even bugz sometimes), he struggles against characters that juggle well (there is multiple. Joker batman harley bugz arya jason Steven wonderwoman etc), and his combos were massively nerfed. He still has nair slight nair slight into sair, but it requires dodge meter to perform and sometimes can be di'd out of (or there is some weird interaction with certain characters when they get hit by this.) Giant is a cheese character, he relies on scenarios where you can turn the situation around or take full advantage of your massive size, his rage mode also has insane amounts of power, but all it takes to get giant's rage mode to feel problematic is to be juggled, which many characters specialize at. Giant also doesnt do well against samurai jack either, and he is still the most played character today. One thing that giant needs a nerf on though, is the rage mode dlight loop, it shouldnt exist. Other than that id say he is balanced (extremely strong and extremely weak), but there are things that need to be worked on somehow, like superman sair spam making giant unable to do anything and get dragged into the blast zone, or how stripe can spam aerials and theres nothing you can do either, or marvin which you already are very aware of. The character has a lot more holes than people think. He's like a coinflip. You either demolish your opponent, or you get demolished. Edit: to specify why giant struggles against slim or small characters, its because all his best grounded tools suddenly become useless. Up special: they can go under it Nair: they can go under it Slight: they can go under it And even from the air, nair is gonna miss plenty of times against specific characters while being literally 'grounded' at that very moment (try hitting an arya doing a dash attack, or harley doing the slide, or batman doing the slide, you literally cant hit them. There is dair which isnt that effective compared to the other tools i mentioned, but youll usually be going for nair because you want to take advantage of your combos. Dair can be a combo starter but you put your legs down to the spot the enemy is attacking so you might aswell get interrupted anyway. Iron giant also struggles against long reaching attacks you cant punish (jake sair, samjack side special, even smith's gun)

I talked to shirogane abt iron giant before this video’s release (before ranked came out), so I was going off of how broken he said he was, as well as other top level players’ sentiments (and some tournament gameplay I’ve watched). Now that I think abt it, Superman/arya feel like harder characters to play against, but I still think ig is up there as a top contender imo

@@HypeVoiceActing Question, who do you play? If you are losing to Marvin as Harley, Shaggy, Samurai Jack, Steven, Batman, Tom and Jerry, Arya Stark, or Superman then you are legit just bad. Even the characters I didn’t name, all have multiple answers to deal with Marvin’s whole kit. . If most of Marvin’s best moves wasn’t on cooldown, then I would agree with you. If you dodge and counter all Marvin cooldowns, you basically have a free kill. He dies early because he’s an assassin and he takes so long to kill unless you do a smart set up.

I think alot of this could be fixed by making cooldowns less prevalent on dodge and specials and make start up more balanced on attacks. Most of the roster just cant stack of speed wise and it makes the metas way too apparent in this game. Unless you master the movement and your character completely you will get womped on

He’s a big body heavyweight that is supposed to get a couple of reads and kill you early.
