I know this because EastEnders previously did a gay 🏳️‍🌈 Muslim storyline in which Syed fell in love with Christian, but Syed's mother Zainab was homophobic towards them both although she eventually accepted Syed and Christian's relationship. Coronation Street did the same storyline in which Rana realized she was a lesbian and fell in love with Kate, although her mum Saira disowned her altogether. Eventually however Kate and Rana's storyline didn't have a happy ending like Syed and Christian's storyline did, as Rana died when the factory 🏭 roof collapsed. I couldn't stand Zainab for her homophobia but I liked her actress Nina Wadia when she was previously in Goodness Gracious Me with Sanjeev Bhaskar, Meera Syal and Kulvinder Ghir.

Even stuff that don’t have anything to do with social perception.. an example is that if a show had magic in it, I was not allowed to watch it. Besides, even if I were straight, I would suppress talking about my dating life with her, because I would never ever talk about it with my parents . My private life is my private life, but also seeing random attribute about yourself, gifts to an awkward silence that follows regardless of what it is. I don’t know whether or not these things are socially acceptable we prefer to keep private.

I don’t think there’s any point in straight up telling his mom. Telling someone you attracted to the same gender is only hard because it’s like , if you had to go up to 1 or both of your parents, and say random fact about yourself. Your favorite color is purple your favorite food is chocolate cake, you listen to metal music or maybe humorously that you are attracted to the opposite gender. It’s still “difficult” because it’s just an awkward thing to do. You get an awkward silence. And they’re like “..okayyyy?”
