Your father share greater responsibility for the family, and if he let your mother do that to you, he was derelict in his duty as a father. Believe me, if it were me, I would have beat the hell out of my wife (if that is what it took, that is) back to her sense if she were exploiting our son like that to his detriment. My son is an extension of myself, and I am not going to let anyone exploit or harm us, not even my wife. That being said, I wouldn't be so stupid to have children with a wife with such lack of character.

She shouldn't have included the part when her daughter was upset with her results. There is no reason to film, edit and post it on social media, knowing that many will witness her crying. Instead, stop and comfort her privately. In fact, a simple post abt her daughter's results is enough if she insist on documenting the process.

From the way she said how the negativity is gaining her attention because of the tiktok algorithm, it really seems like she cares more about the views and attention rather than the mental and emotional well-being of her children. Take away her wealth, followers, social standing, and we'll see how she truly "cares" for her children.

I met her before. She seemed like a fake person so I wasn't comfortable speaking to her. It was difficult to work with her. She was argumentative and insistent on her ideas. I hate those people who selfishly use their kids or simply their entourage for content. No self-awareness. On the first video, the girl was clearly distressed, disappointed in herself and of course sad and embarrassed, as most people would be in that situation. She just wanted to get out of there, without her mom talking the whole time and possibly make others around understand that she got bad results. Ugh videos like these piss me off.

what’s she’s teaching her kids about the results and bullying is not inherently wrong but she doesn’t understand that filming her parenting and showcasing it online is exploitive. if she wanted to advice other parents/children on what she’s teaching her kids there are better ways to do so than to show it while her children are in a vulnerable state

Obviously the daughter looks tired of her mum trying to make TikToks all the time featuring her. LOL. The other TikTok that she whined, can see that she just wanted a moment with the family but the mum forced the camera on her. Maybe it wouldn't be that bad if she didn't film her kids, just film her ownself with her thoughts. Sometimes you just want to spend quality time with family or what but then someone decides to shove a camera and film it down can be annoying in the long run.

I am a Christian myself and I think this lady has some decent advice for her kids, but she really needs to draw a line between what should be on social media and what shouldn't. I guess she wants to share her advice to other teens and children/her audience, but these can be shared WITHOUT your crying kid on camera. Showing children on social media is a tricky issue, but showcasing your children in very private moments (e.g. collecting your O level results) should be a strict no-no. It's also awfully disturbing how the mother regards all criticism as hate. We don't hate you; we hate what your actions are doing to your kids.
@mamamememoo
@mamamememoo Жыл бұрын
Her advice is lifted from pastors and Christian parenting books. Why do I say that? Cause from her lack of wisdom, it is clear that she isn’t authentically walking the talk. I feel like she leverages on Christianity to get attention. It’s not sincerely trying to help other parents and kids… it’s throwing her family under the bus for likes whilst parroting textbook ‘Christian-ese”. Calling a spade a spade. I don’t see authentic faith. We call this 做做 in Chinese or putting on an act.

I think that no matter how many justifications that these mum vloggers/tiktokers give to the viewers of their actions, I don't think it's right to share all these personal scenes of their children to the world. Like if they share a video of a one-to-one talk with the children, or a proper like tips to stand against bullying (minus the religious part lol) I think it's fine. But sharing your children crying? For what? Just doesn't make sense to me. How many people are actually "empowered" or positively impacted by these videos? Heh

Please do respect the space & emo needs of children, a young adult at that No difference really, from the flashy car owner of a mom who terrorised her poor son. I’m sure there was also a lot more that happened off camera that we don’t know about, and the footage of this may not have accurately portrayed everything - it may not be right for us to take this at face value and conclude things without considering/understanding the mother and daughter’s relationship and dynamics, or knowing what truly happened. Essentially, the mum is getting hate because she seemed insensitive to the daughter’s feelings right? But how this mother teaches and comforts her own child off camera may not be perfectly portrayed perfectly on camera, and it’s not fair for them to receive hate because of this. If anything, they seem to have a close relationship from their other videos and it may actually be hurtful to the daughter’s feelings to see the mum getting hate from this. To them, it could’ve simply been a small issue/moment of insensitivity and I’m sure it has been resolved between them. They are, after all, mother and daughter, family to each other, and are not against each other, and whatever hurts a family member would hurt them as well. If the goal of all the hate is to condemn the mother’s actions on the basis of caring for Ines’ feelings, then we should actually stop the hate because Ines probably feels bad as well. I’m sure the mother knows her mistake and has made peace with her daughter.

Just to clarify and perhaps add some thoughts, I am close friends with this influencer's daughter and I have checked in with her multiple times if she is alright with her Mother's filming and especially this video. My friend has said that she is fine with it and on most parts that I see she is a happy girl living a mostly normal life so I believe as long as her family is fine with the filming then there is no need for the public to judge and shame and hate on her mother as this means my friend will be getting negative attention. Hope this offers an alternative viewpoint.

I'm not a content creator, and I do understand that her job as one has to create content but filming someone (or self) breaking down is just cringe for me. Like just let them have some space to cool off, THEN after that when everything is ok, she can talk about it on her social media with them, more like an After Action Review type of thing. There is always a time and place for everything, it is not about your family history or o level results or bullies, but it's the timing of talking about it. She mentioned about "talking about bullies and agreeing with his son to talk about the issue", but you cannot expect a 6 or 7 or 8 year old (sorry I do not know her son's age) to have to same mental / emotional capacity as a full grown adult. Perhaps to the mum, she is just talking "as a matter of fact" about the issues, but it could be "reliving the moment" for the son. And asking your daughter to talk about how ok she is with the video is just weird, netizens do not have an issue with her feeling upset about her results, but the mum filming the whole process and letting the whole world (ok lah maybe mostly sg) see her daughter processing disappointment. :\

The mum seems to need attention tbh. You can always share the same lessons as a video of you sharing personally sans kids, about what they went through and how to overcome. Rolling the video when they deserve personal space is just not right. You think you’re doing a service to other fellow Christian parents but it smacks of lack of discernment and pride. If people tell you it’s not serving the intended purpose and possibly causing harm to your kids, pls stop. Pls reconsider how you present your sharing so that you protect them, their privacy and prevent them from ridicule. Your behaviour gives Christianity a bad look. If your intention was to promote the faith, it seems to be backfiring. Being authentic doesn’t mean throwing your family’s feelings under the bus for likes.

A bit hard to get consent from your kids when they are literal children. They're not even adults and they will feel obligated to listen. Also, can't you share the stories without showing their face? They're in such a vulnerable state. If you didn't expect them to cry, just don't post it ??? Idk this whole thing just feels wrong

The daughter looked as if she’s forced(reluctantly)to film that video, from her eye contact itself, she’s constantly avoiding eye contact while being filmed … feel so bad for her… how will she grow up in this type of situation without being traumatised

Yup. Prob being forced to lie through her teeth to help her mum look good.l again. Mummy doesn’t realise people aren’t buying the act any more though.

I guess some might see it as monetizing her daughter's misery. But I would like to believe that wasnt her intention; no mum would want to see their child fail. But its oso a rare perspective on parenting, she wasnt the best in comforting but certainly others can watch and reflect on how they wld deal with something like this if it were them

Of coz she doesn’t want her daughter to fail. Because she already gave the clue to how she views her daughter- her daughter doing well or not is her grades. Talk about laying on the guilt and condemnation. I would urge her to seek to be counselled about this by her church pastor/leaders & to rethink the way she pushes out content- how is this going to affect her kids and her relationship with them and their relationship with others in future.

Family vloggers that feature their kids heavily should be stopped. How can a child agree to be filmed in their vulnerable moments when he/she probably could not fathom how widespread and long-lived these videos can be?

Girl. Such a private moment that is nerve wrecking doesn't need to be on social media. Like she is more concerned about "preaching" to the camera than comforting and encouraging her daughter. 😂😂😂😂💀

🙈 They need to read Proverbs and esp focus on the bits on pride, being fools and re-examining their walk. Jesus isn’t their focus. They are leveraging on him to be their branding and their message isn’t Jesus is a good shepherd- it’s I FEEL I AM THE BEST PARENT SO LEARN FROM ME

You know how infinity is where parallel lines collide? This is like the infinity where the parallel lines of everything wrong with social media , everything wrong with the Singapore education system and everything wrong with parenting in Singapore collide (additional parallel line of everything wrong with mainstream Singapore Christianity).
