karnataka's section of nh66 is so awesome, just drove last saturday from managalore to karwar and into goa. its really sad that maharashtra's section of nh66 is in tatters. Kerala's section was also hopeless but the upgradation work seems to be going on quite well there.

Geographical complexity in Konkan Maharashtra is significantly more than in the other 2 states. Hence cannot directly compare.

@@rohankorde can compare. Idukki district in Kerala is the most treacherous in the Western ghats. Yet, the roads in that region are outstanding. You can check out Gap road in Pooppara, the Elappara-Kuttikanam road, the KK road etc. Geographical complexity is of no relevance in the 21st century. Outstanding roads exist in the Alps, huge bridges exist over oceans in Europe and China. Let's not hide behind silly reasons.

A very informative video. I had travelled on this road upto Ratnagiri last year, around the same time and have faced the brunt of this poorly maintained highway. Disappointed to see the continued apathy of the government towards this very important road.

Its a shame that inspite of 15 years and huge money allocated or spent, the Panvel Goa Highway is still not complete and doesn't seem to be getting complete in near future. Even if it is not for Goa, but shameless that Maharashtra Govt. is not concerned about their own Konkan region and people of Konkan to provide a world class connectivity for them and neglected this corridor, while focussing on spending huge money in the already congested Mumbai and unwantedly concentrating on coastal roads etc.

The target was to complete one side concretization of Palaspe to Kasu section by December 2023 because this section is extensively used by heavy vehicles compared to kasu to Indapur section.

The main problem is NHAI awards contracts and then the project gets stuck in litigation .Land aquisition is done later after the work starts . Gadkari knows the plight of the commutors has no words to explain why this work is stuck . Every time he says it will be ready by December .This year one side will be ready by Ganesh chaturthi that what PWD minister of Maharashtra said

Thanks for the update...NH-55 286 KM KA kaam 10 saal se chal raha hai abhi bhi aur 5 saal lag jayega lagta hai govt ek saath bahut saare project launch kar deta hai lekin monitoring bahut kaam project ka proper hota hai.... samruddhi bhi complete hone main abhi aur 3 saal lagega ...khale pakage wise open karna not a big challenge...poor selection of contractor and management are responsible to complete the project on timeline

I had gone to Raigad for my 1st bike ride from Mumbai. Although it was epic, it was very dangerous because we traveled late and it got dark and trust me you don't want to travel here at night especially with the condition of the road. This highway should be prioritized as it will aid development of coastal cities along Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka which now have to go through Mumbai Bangalore highway.

For Ganesh Chaturthi, if one wants to travel to Sindhudurg district - then from where should one begin taking Mumbai Goa Highway? Via Amba Ghat or Gaganbawda? In March 2023 this is the route I took - Mumbai - Khopoli - Pali - Nagothane - Mangaon - Mahad - Chiplun - Khed - Sangameswar - Devrukh - Sakharpa - Lanja - … now the road is good till Kudal.

This highway is of no use to people in Sindhudurg district. They can take Bangalore highway to reach there quickly. It is a very slow highway , given the hilly terrain. Even if it is a double lane highway it will not make any difference in time. Plus local traffic will fill up on it soon and make it further slow defeating its purpose. Add potholes to it and driving will be still slower. A completely avoidable highway. Last travelled on it before 2004. Totally avoidable highway.
