MUMBAI TO ALIBAG : FULL BUS JOURNEY : MUMBAI CENTRAL - ALIBAG MSRTC SEMI LUXURY HIRKANI ST BUS CABIN RIDE : MUMBAI - GOA HIGHWAY.
Alibag is a coastal town and a municipal council in Raigad District of Maharashtra, India. It is the headquarters of the Raigad district and is south of the city of Mumbai. Alibag is part of Mumbai Metropolitan Region and is situated at a distance of about 96km from Mumbai and 143km from Pune. Alibag is located about 120 km south of Mumbai. The District Government offices are located along the sea coast road. Alibag is the center place of Raigad District. One can reach Alibag via Pen (30 km), which is on the Mumbai (78 km) - Goa road. From Mumbai, one can reach Alibag by traveling on the Mumbai-Goa highway (NH-66) till Wadkhal (or Vadkhal) and taking the right fork from Wadkhal to continue on (NH-166A)- the left fork being the road to Goa. It is approximately 108 km from Mumbai. Alibag is 50 km away from Murud. By boat service from Mumbai one can reach Alibag by 1 and half hour's journey. one can reach alibag also with speedboat with a journey of 10-15 minutes from Gateway of India to mandva. Revdanda, Chaul, Nagaon, Akshi, Varsoli, Thal, Navgaon, Kihim, and Aawas villages were known as "Ashtagare". Alibag and its surrounding villages are the historic hinterlands of Bene Israeli Jews, for more than 2550 years. There is a synagogue in the "Israel Ali" (Marathi इस्राएल आळी meaning Israel lane) area of the town. A Bene Israelite named Eli (Elisha/Elizah) used to live there at that time. He was a rich man and owned many plantations of mangoes and coconuts in his gardens. Hence the locals used to call the place "Elichi Bagh" which in the Islam entering Maharashtra, the generations pronunciation changed (Marathi for "Ali's Garden"), or simply "Alibag", and the name stuck. In early June 2020, severe cyclonic storm Nisarga made landfall in Alibaug at peak intensity. The cyclone blew off tin and asbestos sheets from roofs and uprooted trees in Alibag.

Mumbai lies on the Konkan coast on the west coast of India and has a deep natural harbour. In 2008, Mumbai was named an alpha world city. It has the highest number of millionaires and billionaires among all cities in India. Mumbai is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Elephanta Caves, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and the city's distinctive ensemble of Victorian and Art Deco buildings.
A resident of Mumbai is called Mumbaikar in Marathi, in which the suffix kar means a resident of. The term had been in use for quite some time but it gained popularity after the official name change to Mumbai. Older terms such as Bombayite are also in use.
(MSRTC, also known as ST) buses provide intercity transport connecting Mumbai with other towns and cities of Maharashtra and nearby states.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation abbreviated as (MSRTC, or simply ST), is the state run bus service of Maharashtra, India which serves routes to towns and cities within Maharashtra as well as to its adjoining states. It has a fleet strength of 18449 buses. It also offers a facility for online booking of tickets for all buses. Recently From 21 may 2020 Corporation Started Goods Transportation, Private Bus Body Building, Private Vehicle Tyre Remoulding.I n Future Corporation will start Petrol Pump for Private Vehicles all over the Maharashtra.
MSRTC is operating a fleet of approximately 18,449 buses that ferry 6.7 million passengers daily.
The Ordinary, Parivartan, Asiad and City Buses are built at MSRTC's in-house workshops at Dapodi, Aurangabad, and Nagpur on Ashok Leyland and TATA chassis. These workshops produce as many as 20,000 buses per year on average. The corporation has nine tyre retreading plants along with 32 divisional workshops. The Shivneri air conditioned bus service consists of Volvo 9400R buses and Scania Metrolink buses. The Shivshahi buses are air-conditioned luxury buses which are operated by MSRTC and some private contractors.
In 2018, MSRTC added approximately a 1,000 special non-AC Vithai buses, which were introduced to ferry passengers to the pilgrim town of Pandharpur in Solapur district. They have a seating capacity of 45 seats and a similar design to that of 'Parivartan' buses.
