I just don't get this... given the geography, speed limitations and traffic, why does any train need the WDP 4 series or WAP 5/7 to haul them? Irrespective of the loco, the time taken from Mumbai to Pune is between 3.5 and 4 hours.

@@INDIANRAILWAYSREDBEAST Not really! The Dadar express in 70's took 27 hours to cover the distance between Mumbai and Chennai. It takes the same time today as well. The Chennai express covers the same in 24 hours since its inception. Mumbai to Solapur is 8 hours ever since. The Wadi to Renigunta section is the most ignored. In spite of upgradations, the running time has not improved one bit. It's high time IR reduces the number of halts by 50%.
