I honestly think this is one of their best songs and it is criminally underrated. When I heard it the first time, I didn't like it that much. Then one night when I was drowning in my thoughts and I was listening to the entire album, Only Love stood out and by the end of it, I was in tears. I believe the song works its magic if you understand the emotions behind it. For me, the song is slow in the beginning because it gives you time to think about that lost love. You gather your thoughts and all the emotions, and how bad you wanted things to work out. But suddenly everything becomes part of a hurricane, going berserk. The bottled up emotions going wild and you still wanting to hold on to that love that you now could not. Realizing that you were denied of that true love. Hence the rage, the chaos, the rush! Wilder Mind may not be as strong lyrically as their previous albums, but it is their best work yet because the emotions feel too honest and relatable.

100% agree brother. By far one my top favourites for the pure emotions it releases.

sat here listening to the album, and had to listen to this one multiple times, and decided to check it out live....have to agree with your words....powerful song that really stirs the emotions....

It does have some really strong lyrics tho partially. Still you’re right, it is even more amazingly strong at capturing emotions than the earlier albums that already did a great job at that (Dust Bowl Dance or Lover of the Light being might favourite examples)

I could not agree more with you. When I first heard this song, I did not really like it, but after listening to it one time on an evening, it kept repeating in my head: “didn’t they say that ooonly love will win in the end”. From that point forth, it was my favourite Mumford and sons song, and when I put it on, I sing my lungs out and enjoy every second of it!
