Can we all just realize this is the early version of Broken Crown. Still perfect, still beautiful.

They truly are the legacy of music that should be defining our generation. Such a gift as this kind of band is a very rare thing.

Wow, the opening to this REALLY sounds like Dave matthews. I know i've heard that about alot of their songs, but this one especially sounds like it. Amazing, amazing song. Love love love it.

GAHHH that buildup at 3:03.. When Marcus starts screaming, you can just feel the emotion. Love the effect, it gets my heart beatin' all fast

Fascinating lyrics. "I fall short"...."consign me not to darkness"...Mumford is definetely a learned lad of Christian Theology.
@Cynthorrpg113 жыл бұрын
@Zjsnsic83 Yes it is. They revamped it later and used most of it in a song they call "Broken Crown" but this was the first version and this is the correct title for it. They also have a version they did while in India which is mixed with Indian style folk, the Dharohar project and them playing "To Darkness" together which sounds awesome.

Musical Genious. By far and away the best band to have come out of the 'noughties'.

I can't get over the possibility of how much power this song has; how amazingly perfect Mumford and Sons are. Each song, each lyric, each pronunciation is perfect! I hate songs which just mumble a couple of meaningless words and reach the top ten, whereas these type of songs; it's a phantasmagoric world in which they created, just to make the world a better place. And they succeeded. Helped me through the darkest times. Thank you!!!

I was on a bus trip yesterday for my hockey team, watching the first Lord of the Rings, and this song came up on my ipod. Literally right as they're running through the mines from the huge fuckin' fire creature. Most perfect moment ever

I normally prefer studio versions to live versions, but I have to disagree about the live version on iTunes - the energy level is great, the sound quality is great, and it says "Consign me not to darkness" rather than "Subscribe"....

Why can't I seem to find the album with all the other songs on them (not the album "sigh no more"). I like buying their albums for support but if they don't make any new ones, I'll have to download the songs from youtube... Too bad for them. Still love the music though =)

@dudemanjones75 I'm just guessing here, since there are alot of songs that are out that arent on the first album, and they made some songs with the dharohar project and laura marling. So I am hoping.

@LoveGodLive They're of mixed faith, but the lyrics, whilst indirect toward any religious text themselves at most, are quite biblically put. Though that term can just as easily be equated to passionate rhetoric about 'love' and 'hate', which is more likely what it is. They don't overwhelm their audience with preachy nonsense. They come from an immensely secular background, respect all kinds of faith, and that's the way to go. It shows respect to people. Sufjan Stevens learnt that the hard way
