Just an interesting detail about this song and video. While deltas are landforms created "where the rivers run into the sea" by sediment. Delta is also the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet and is represented by the triangular Δ symbol. The Δ delta symbol is also commonly used in math and science to denote change. You'll notice that when the music in the song changes up at around 2:15 the triangular transitions in the video begin to play. Pretty cool editing and concept!

But, to add to my reply, not all photos are from Africa. Some are from the Great Plains of the USA, for example. Also, "the delta" could be a metaphor for a meeting place of water or of people.

Everyone has a different interpretation of these songs, but I feel pretty strongly that this song is about God. Elsewhere on Delta Marcus sings "I think it's the wild, puts the fear of God in me". The words of this song "when it's all just dust to dust, and that's how it will be. When it's all just nothingness, that means nothing to me" is Marcus singing that to him creation needs to have meaning beyond just being born and dying (dust to dust). I believe to him the wonder of the wild is a demonstration of a God with power to bring meaning beyond that. He'll meet Him (God) at the delta, but what lies beyond is beyond himself.
@StachuThe6 жыл бұрын
@@JackGuy You are on point Jack - this album has this God-ish feeling / vibe to me. Not all of the songs have to be about love between two people.
@jenniferhately24236 жыл бұрын
Delta is the 4th letter of the Greek alphabet, and has a triangle for its symbol. The Greek delta symbol is also the scientific denotation for change. It's not a love song in the aspect of 2 lovers, it's a love song in the sense of humanity to its life sustaining planet, through change. The change comes in loving ourself, as a species.
@josehenriquefs8885 жыл бұрын
I think this song is very existentialist. The writer wonder about the meaning of life, and about love in a general way, not just romantic love. He makes allusion to 1 Cor. 13 whe he says: "What am I if I don't have love? I'm a waste" and in the chorus he emphatize that love it's not just about feelings, but also about actions, altruistic actions (just like the Bible says). The video fits well, because as it show us the life in the planet, we wonder about the beauty of the life and about the love of God reflected in his creations
