Ive watched this anime 2 yrs ago and decided to rewatch it. I was thinking maybe the creatures are some sort of monsters that came from another dimension like when mii got lost and found by another small oni. Idk why theyre chibi tho, maybe they transform into chibi versions when they get transported into this world. Second thought was theyre some sort of spiritual creatures that are destined to arrive with their perfect owners. I think maybe the second one is a better explanation
