Two things that weren't touched upon here for additional context: -The reason LeBron James was chosen as Taco Bell's spokesperson for this conflict was because he frequently used the phrase "Taco Tuesday" in viral videos and social media posts and attempted to register the phrase as a trademark himself, but his trademark was denied because the Patent Office declared that it was an incredibly generic term, which Taco Bell used (alongside other similar rejections for non-taco-related uses of the word) as part of its case against Taco John's registration. -Although the brothers claim Gregory's has been silent in the peace treaty; that's not necessarily the case: its owner, who believe it or not is named Gregory Gregory, has spoken to the press in the wake of the settlement and says he refuses to cave in to Taco Bell's demands to give up the New Jersey rights: "I hate to say it's David and Goliath, but it's David and Goliath. And my slingshot got a little looser."

My only hope is that the reason Taco John's dropped their claim was because the term has become too commonplace to be trademarked. So hopefully that makes it harder for Taco Bell to claim it
