This was done to me. My mother gave me Ostiomyolitis by squeezing a boil on my leg. She beat me for years before that and demonized me to everyone. She took me to a channeler to see if the woman could fix me as I was so "bad" and was the cause of all of her problems. I ended up with health issues that she said I was lying about and severe CPTSD. After a lot of research I realuze that she is a sociopath and am no contact with her and the siblings. As she turned them against me too. I hope to bring more awareness to this kind of abuse. Like the speaker said, I have had to rebuild my sense of self. She destroyed it.

Most of the time, the abused children are physically healthy, however mentally they are very much disturbed and require further psychological evaluation, treatment and life time therapy.

What about the parents. They have the disorder. You are all just the victims of the parent with the disorder.

Yeah but psychiatry abuse/munchausen syndrome by proxy is extremely common. It's the case for most the kids locked up in institutions. Except for the kids who got abused by someone else and the gaurdians get them diagnosed and in therapy. It's all just reactive abuse and gaslighting. Therapy can help but the mental health system is a traumatizing place it's self.

As a parent who had to try for over a year to get my son diagnosis, this lecture makes me mad. I dr shopped for a whole year. No body thought anything was wrong and finally a dr listened to me and did an MRI. He had a stage 4 pineoblastoma. A brain tumor. He was almost dead by time we got treatment for him. His symptoms were all vague. There needs to be more research into this disorder because i can tell you it will hurt the parents like me in the end. Im so glad no one tried to say these things about me. My son wpuld have died 😭😭😭🤬🤬🤬

I feel for you. I was originally made to feel “insane and dramatic” with my daughter’s disorders. I had a wealth of knowledge regarding her disorder - this can be interpreted at anxious, depression or historionic. Unfortunately, this wasted crucial years and time and inevitably she recieved her diagnosis- along with a HUGE apology from her medical team. I did appreciate the apology though! I have also experienced seeing mothers totally exaggerating , falsifying and flat out lie to try get their child a diagnosis for their own gain! It’s obvious the child is in great shape and is insulting for parents like myself (and perhaps yourself ) that struggle daily with their child and symptoms! My heart breaks for my daughter (and so does my own mental health taking it on sometimes) If a mother seems to be “cruising” along and only wants a specific “diagnosis” to suit her gain then that’s when you know something is very wrong. Being well educated with a strong maternal extinct should be the last criteria on the symptoms list. It’s our duty to become educated with our children

Four years ago the parents of one of my 7th grade students were arrested for MBP. The student was “gifted” but had a special Ed designation because she was unable to make it through more than two hours of school without blinding migraines and had a very rare disease. Therefore the student had a home teacher who visited and taught here at home. She had an IEP and the school nurse would give in service instruction to all staff and any students in the girl’s classes. We teachers followed all of the instructions and the girl didn’t get any better. Mother demanded certain accommodations and threatened to sue teachers, administration and anyone who didn’t follow her instructions to the letter. So we did. The mother had previously been the guidance counselor at the school before the girl was old enough to attend middle school. Mom chose to retire because of her own health problems. (crohn’s disease, which the student supposedly also had) The parents were arrested after the girl told the home teacher the things that were being done to her. Luckily the home teacher followed up with the proper people and the parents, who had been drugging her, among other things, are now in jail and girl and siblings are with caring relatives.

I don't know why child services didn't remove me from my mother. Perhaps because it was a mild case. They just left it to my passive uninvolved father to deal with so of course the abuse just continued and escalated. I didn't get counseling or anything. I didn't even know about it until recently. Everything in my life told me that there was something wrong with me so I grew up believing it. I still don't know what is true or not.
@brucesbuzznewyorkrealestat38238 ай бұрын
Child abuse is never the child's fault. That I do know. It can be very common for children to grow up thinking there was something wrong with them and that is why the parents acted as they did. The facts say no, there is no excuse for abuse.

Vigilance to MBP sb extended to others beyond just children. Spouses, elder family members/friends, vulnerable people are not immune from people with MBP.

"Your son has a slightly elevated temperature and a runny nose. We think he may have the flu. It should improve in a day or two but if it gets any worse, bring him right back to the ER, mmkay?" "Well I don't know ANYTHING about all this medical stuff, but I think we should definitely consider a feeding tube and possibly even an IV central line cath. Because, you know, just in case. But you have to teach me how to maintain it at home because I don't know a thing about all this medical stuff you guys talk about..."
@gbook210 ай бұрын
Yup. Or worse, the parent is quite familiar with the medical stuff and is a nurse, and can convincingly guide the doctor to perform unnecessary treatments "because I've seen this rare condition at my job in the hospital, and wouldn't it just be safer to do this test and treatment?"

Is it possible Ipecac was prescribed much in error back in the 80s and 90s? My mother gave it to me to induce vomiting because she claimed that my doctor suggested that I had a build up of phlegm in my stomach and it needed to be vomited out. My mother was also very verbally and physically abusive and I am now wondering if Munchausen’s By Proxy is part of it. When I saw your slide on this it made me think. The difference was that I can recall her explaining this to others, the need for the medication, so it is a little different than the parents depicted here who did it completely quietly.

There are usually some very specific signs, which this webinar gets into. Not every mother who goes to a doctor for her child’s health is MbP.
@Tskb72 жыл бұрын
This is so common, I think this is just something mothers do when their instincts tell them they are not going to raise the child without sever developmental damage (or even developmental failure) like how mother bears will eat their Cubs if they think the mom thinks she is going to starve. My mom was one of these and so was her mom, and ever mother going back at least to all of my great grand mothers both maternal and paternal. I can only say that far because that is as far back as stories I’ve heard from family members. Also, this has happened with many of the fathers in my family on all sides but Its usually been older aged child abuse, not trepeqted failing to murder an infant. This is not just me. This is common in all humans, and increases the higher the stress. I know stress sounds vague but it is all inclusive. My mom strangled me when I was 4, she tried to murder me and I started dying but she stopped too soon because she thought I was dead but I wasn’t, and I survived. But it gave me a mild stroke and caused my eye sight to go bad from the ocular part of my brain and she beat the literal piss out of me multiple times a week until I was 7 and had to start elementary school (after holding me back a year because I should have started kindergarten at 6 but she was afraid I would expose her some how, so held me back til the state made her out me in some form of school) Then she went in to saying I had constant utis, they put a camera or something into my bladder too like in the beginning of this video. All of my friends as a young child were in stuff like this. I only made friends with other abused children. Looking back as an adult, they all had stressed mothers who were in levels of stress. That caused them to desire to “abort” a living, out of the womb baby, toddler, child, pre teen, teen. This isn’t an excuse but these mothers are experiencing extreme stress that is telling them (because of their own developmental trauma and ptsd and abuse and what ever you want to call it) that they will die because of their child. This horrible truth is a foundation for so many horrible things in the world.

The risk factor that I think is mischaracterized is that the perpetrators is usually ‘mother’. The cases I’ve heard about seem to involve a perpetrator that is a ‘single mother’ - either legal or de facto- which is far more specific

Not always the case at all, my mother was married, a wealthy housewife a registered nurse and not only committed it on me and my sibling at different points in time she also committed it on my father when he was much older and at home with her. We need to get away from the belief this is only something offenders do to their children

Many are normal seeming married women. However the fathers are often passive and uninvolved. Perhaps working a lot and leaving the care of the child to the mother.
