The chef-owners of Battersby, the intimate brooklyn eatery, take their jobs very seriously. They also take drinking Fernet Branca very seriously. In this episode of Munchies, these two gentlemen grabbed their sous chef Mike Sowa and headed to Henry Public and then Brooklyn Social to show us that if you cook at a very high level, you need to enjoy your time off.

What's with all the hatred? They honestly seem like a bunch of chill dudes and look like they get along with each other pretty well, considering they probably spend upwards of 65+ hrs a week with each other in the kitchen.

I'd have to say that my favorite part of the show is that they always get so toasted and then have to cook for a whole buncha people.

I love these so much. Great chefs talking intimately about food. Then going out to other places they like to eat and maybe getting drunk in the process. Finally back to their restaurant to make a munchies dish. Just a perfect concept. I'll never get tired of these. You'll run out of chefs to interview first.

I agree with your point here, however the video is called 'A Night Out with Brooklyn restaurant owners', so thats what its expected to be about. The start was merely the documented guys briefly explaining their occupations and commitments, before the main event, which is their night out.

I don't understand this hate. all these insults are just outlandish and petty. they're making a living off of what they studied for, made something of the time and effort they've put into their craft, and are proud of their work. calm down, guys, jeez. this is hardly the worst bunch of guys in the munchies series.

Fernet Branca popular with chefs/restaurant workers. They were drinking it pre-meal @ 4:58 mark but it's considered a digestif. But I suppose no rules apply & it does depend a bit on what you're mixing it with.

I like almost all of these relatively short pieces of theirs, as I think the small "Scale" of these are sometimes more interesting than some of the larger "Scale" "Nuke dealer" type of exposés they make. Afterall, This is much more relevant to the majority of people including myself, and they also just make me feel good watching them!

Stop commenting and criticizing these chefs. Unless you actively work in a restaurant and understand all the hard work involved, then don't say shit. Chef's have historically been the outcasts, losers and rejects, working their asses off, missing holidays, birthdays, even weddings.

This is actually the crossover point of gentrification, it goes working class denizens -> artsy hipsters -> upper class, plastic cookie cutter people. Rinse & Repeat. I used to get angry at gentrification, but it is inevitable. On another note, all that food looked awesome!

Ok, but there are only so many times that Vice can find people and places like those and go to them. It's not as easy as it looks and those types of docs probably involve a lot of planning, money and not to mention risking the safety of the crew and host. Try to be thankful that Vice can find the time to make these smaller episodes in between the big high-profile ones.

True., and i completely understand what you feel, i do work at a restaurant too, and boy i wouldn't even want to go out for 2 minutes with the many of my co-workers. Though a couple co-workers did become close friends. What i mean is, work is work and that's our job, what happens after work is recreational, but that being said jumping from restaurant to restaurant while working in one seems a bit boring to be honest.
