Nice video. Most transit videos only show the outside of the trains and rarely show what riders experience. This was nicely shot, showing the interiors and also the street scenes from a good perspective. This is harder than it appears. This was well done. Thank you.

I'm adding to the praise for filming both what goes on inside and outside the car. Your video tracks not just the way riders approach the trains and vice versa, but also the fabric of the city around the N Judah: note how the residential buildings go from the stucco & woodframe 1920s-1930s in the Avenues to the post-quake Edwardian and Craftsman era (1907-1920) between 9th and Duboce Park to the pre-quake Victorian 1880s-1900 east of the tunnel). I also enjoy the casually civilized way strangers sit next to each other, the way riders pass the time on board, etc. It's a slice of pre-pandemic life in San Francisco I realize I miss, and I'm eager to return to.

You perfectly encapsulated the joy that is filming public transit. From the sights of the urban landscape to the people you see, it's a wonderful experience to be able to document it all for more to see. Thank you for this comment, it really made my day!

Fine video, but I loved the PCC’s on the surface on Market St, a quick trip through the TP Tunnel, then the trip down Judah, sitting in seats where you could look out the window, not at other passengers. These new cars have all the personality of the NYC Subway.

I figured once the track replacement was completed they'd start flying through the Sunset Tunnel again. They go at a snail's pace.

the acceleration these have in the market st subway is just incredible, on the outside of the train lol. If u are sitting down, you slam into the person next to u

Nice train but not bright enough lights so people and cars can see it far away. They do this with 3 headlights all the time in Seattle. I wish San Francisco had more grade separated rail like they do in Boston or other cities.
@BayAreaTransitNews5 жыл бұрын
Those headlights are plenty bright in underground portions of the system. This is because the trains have three sets of lights on the left and right headlights, and the two brightest ones turn on when the trains are underground. Above-ground, though, only the single light is used.

SF’s trains mostly work like buses, with stop request and everything. I love it.

These are really old streetcar lines for the most part, grade separation is more of a modern light rail feature.

@@qjtvaddict Yes, although we don't really call them trams in North America. We either say trolley or streetcar.
