Where you talking to the owner of that outfit has he a different drum in that machine? It doesn't sound like any fx's I've heard before I've heard of guys putting a john deere drum in an fx before but never heard it working

It may be the 8 knife type that was also available judging by the old brochures.. Most though as you rightly point out have come with a 12 knife drum, but nearly all of which folk seem to run with just a half set of knives
