Even, I believe the Ottoman fall-off started the moment the women started to interfere in state affairs. And it started from here. Under the influence of Hurrem Sulemian destroyed the Ottoman dynasty by favouring her son to be the sultan despite who was the best among them to rule.

The problem with the ottoman empire is that the succession wasn't going based on merit. Or at least seniority of the offspring. The one who ended up taking the throne was the one who was better at plotting and killing his brothers before he ended up being preyed upon
