Not really though, all of those songs would’ve been hits without her, you can’t turn a verse to a hit record, every record she done put out has other people doing the hook, the part people actually remember, you put mook or lux on a drake song they will have hits too, surf make good music but most battle rappers in this era music isn’t being heard by anyone that doesn’t watch battle rap, surf gets some credit but he has believability and that it factor, that translates to music, battle rap in this era is just a bunch of insults and schemes, it’s not a bunch of people listening to songs to hear battle bars, we listen to songs for a feeling, whether a rapper really lives a certain life or not it’s different, we can relate to it, battle rap is entertaining because of the back and forth, it’s not much reality in it, most of these guys battle and say some of the worst shit to each other and are friends

@@g5jonez I agree with EVERYTHING YOU SAID about “today’s battle rappers” they are more gimmicky then they are full of bars. Remy single “I’m conceited, I gotta reason” WENT HARD AND WAS ON THE RAP CHARTS then she got locked up for 7 years. That’s what slowed down her momentum, not her ability to make a hit. Yes she did do “posse cut songs” but her verses added flavor to all the songs and were necessary being a girl growing in this scene and partying in clubs during this era, I saw it in real time and how it played out on the radio. I just found out Mook is 2 years younger than me so it’s like he said in the interview, he grew up with his foot in 2 eras, because of that it gave him an advantage over these new niggas who don’t really understand what the art is about cause they showed up for the hype

@@AaronaCreates as far as remy goes, she has hitmakers around her, all fat joe was doing was making hits so it was a little easier for her plus she was on love & hip hop a show most of America was watching and it let you into her life, I think as of right now surf is more known for his music, than battle rap which I think he’s more talented on a song, than battles, mook is strictly known for battle rap, and yea he has a lot of connections but at this point career wise I don’t think people are going to check for his music other than battle rappers or people who watch battle rap, plus the industry is a young mans game, I know mook for trying to battle Cassidy, and I was younger then he is a legend in the battle rap scene no doubt, but he didn’t build a career off his music over the past 15 years, not saying he can’t make a good album, but nobody’s going to want to hear it, most of the older rappers still making quality songs have been doing just that, mook damn near 40 and the game has changed, surf still got the youth and people who don’t know he was a battle rapper first so it’s different
