when you think about the implications, this is the battle to save the universe cause Solver/Cyn destroyed a lot of planets before coming here and would've continued on. adds some heavy weight to an already intense fight.

In fact it just strengthens her negative character arc by showing just how afraid of Cyn she is “You know there’s no escape; even in death”-J in episode 8

Because she wasn't a huge part of the final fight or because she sided with Cyn? If its the first one I can see that, but J siding with Cyn was always inevitable. She's always had the most info of the 3 of them, has never been a particularly nice person outside of towards Tessa, and has always kept authority on a pedastal. Unlike the other 2 she's never once had even a hint of wavering. Her siding with Cyn entirely makes sense, especially given how attached Cyn is to their team. N and V were only on the precipice of death by her after a full and absolute betrayal. J figured Cyn was unstoppable and that if she sided with her she'd avoid that fate.
