Murder of Jews in Babi Yar

Dina Levina who was born in 1927 in Kiev and was living there during the war years recalls how following the German order she together with her family and her Jewish neighbors went to the Babi Yar ravine, being deceived into believing that they were going to be resettled, how after arriving there they were robbed of their documents and of their possessesions, and forced to strip to the underwear. Levina tells how she and other Jews were brought to the edge of the ravine and were fired upon by machine gun and how she flew down into the ravine and was buried under the bodies and how after the shooting was over she managed to crawled out of the ravine and return home.Interview conducted by the USC Shoah Foundation Institute.

Are there any stories of the soldiers who participated in the murders and survived the war? How could they live with themselves? Even if they were indoctrinated at a young age, at some point in their lives they had to realize they murdered innocent people and there was no way it could be justified.

Words cannot express the horror and brutality of Babi Yar. That anyone survived and lived to tell the tale is a miracle. What erudite brain thought that one up I wonder, from the well educated and privileged Officer class. Some of the Commanding Officers of the Sonderkommandos had Doctorates or were Lawyers. I would be interested to know how the actual perpetrators came to terms with killing so many helpless and innocent people, who were no threat and had done nothing to them. How ever did they live with themselves.

If someone survived of course,.but first of all he or she were naked and secondary they were injured , OR maybe that person or persons were visually impaired and at one time used eyeglasses , But as of.now has been separation from eyeglasses and now is blind as a bat as well. If anyone can survive that. Then Hashem was wanted them to live.And thats.a Miracle.

Yes it was a miracle anyone survived back then, if they the officers didn't follow Hitlers orders they were shot on the spot , they were I guess as cruel & mean as he was! There's a saying that leopards don't change their spots! 😠
