The case where you have a young man that when he was in high school college and even in the prime during his professional baseball career probably used to getting his choice of women. Used to hearing crowd cheer for him and getting is ego getting stroked by groupies, now he's past his prime and he finds a girl he's attracted to that doesn't stroke his ego and he can't handle it.

It did not matter whether he took his own life or not. He was going to die in prison anyway with either being sentenced to life without parole or be sentenced to death. He spared the judge and jury unnessesary time by taking his own life. Now the family of that murdered girlfriend won't have to go through courtroom chaos nor will have to make victim impact statements. Saving the taxpayers money yet again.
