This reminds me of the luckiest sahabi by the name of Usayrim, also known as Amr ibn Thabit. He took the shahada during the battle of Uhud and was immediately dispatched to the front lines. Within a few hours he was martyred. He was known for attaining Jannah without praying a single salah or fasting a single day. This also reminds me of a hadith in Sahih Muslim narrated by Abu Huraira. Allah's Messenger said, By Him in Whose Hand is my life, a man among you may do deeds of those who are destined to go to Paradise until there is only an arm's length between him and Paradise, and then what has been written for him decides his behavior and he starts doing (evil) deeds characteristic of the people of Hell and (ultimately) enters Hell; and a man among you may do deeds of those who are destined to go to Hell until there is only an arm's length between him and Hell, and then what has been written for him decides his behavior and he starts doing deeds characteristic of the people of Paradise and (ultimately) enters Paradise. We pray that brother Damarius was from this later group. May Allah grant him Jannah.
