I'm guessing there are not a lot of people who get into the water and swim with botos, so they don't have much opportunity to learn how to deal with that and pass the word on. These guys looked clumsy and excited and like they absolutely did not have a clue that they were being rough, but I noticed that one took a fish rather gently after the initial time he said one got his thumb. I have to wonder if that one was the thumb one after it tasted him and went "ope, this critter is slow and fragile, lesson learned." They do learn from each other and I feel like if more of the population interacted positively with humans, they could forge a friendship.

Amazon dolphins not dangerous No, Amazon river dolphins, also known as pink river dolphins or boto, are not considered dangerous to humans. They are known to be quite friendly and curious towards humans, and there are no known cases of them attacking or harming humans unprovoked. I hope you're not responsible for these animals being killed out of fear by the locals.
