basic pick & dip idea but not a real good example. Joints should be full and no mortar dropped. Bit sloppy. Never used a trowel like thay which they use in EU. Not sure you could really pick and dip with that trowel good.

It gives an insight into what you have been saying regarding the speed of the pick and dip method .in mainland Europe the Germans ,Dutch ,Danish ,Finnish to name but a few use it. A lot of guys when they see it for the first time, because they have been trained to lay long beds and furrow and fiddle around with the mortar prior to laying the brick can't get there heads around the fact that you can place mortar on the wall and lay the brick into it with out to much fuss.

Shinobi Spud . I try as much as I can to use the pick and dip method.

@@brickbybric often there's no cement in the mix only lime and sand so you dont have the time to lay out a long bed cause the bricks would suck the water out of the mix and then you dont get the suction that makes it strong.

joint are fine the next layer will fill the small spots that's missing. trowel is made to fit a full brick and have a straight edge so its more præcise
