In south korea or any other asian countries, hierarchy is very important like you have to address older or younger people a certain way like calling 'older brother', 'older sister', 'younger brother' & 'younger sister' especially south korea. So, in south korea they have informal & formal way of talking & it's important to use formal ways of talking to people older than you. In the roasting part, jungkook is using informal way of talking to jin, so it's funny. Hope it helps.

Exactly, it's ingrained in their culture. So it's unusual how close Jin and Jungkook are, since they are 5 or so years apart. It's more common that people born in the same year are close to each other. Korean idols have group chats with other idols born in the same year (for instance 95-liners). This just shows how much BTS members love each other, they are really a family.

South Korea has this thing about age, or age culture where you have to respect people older than you, even if they are one year older. The older one will treat you like an older brother or sister(if they are close) and the youngest one have to respect you. Korean language has different ending sentences if you are talking to an older person or someone with the same age(friend)/or younger. In one of the games they were playing JK said YA (hey) to JIn, but you can only say that to friends or younger people. (In this case it was part of the game). Also Jin is the oldest of bts and JK the youngest. Jin took care of JK when he move to seul, paid for meals and invited him to family trips (for what I heard). Someone correct me if I'm wrong about something. I'm not korean. About the oppa thing: girls who are younger than a male friend can call him oppa(if they are close). Jk didn't like it to be called that in a fan sign beacuse he tought the girls saying oppa were clearly older than him. So he start saying he will ask ID's in the next fansign haha

Yea...the game is called "of course" where they roast each other. One person does the roasting & the other person has to say "of course" to whatever insult thrown their way. If you don't say it, then you lose and on to the next person. They know each other's weaknesses, so they use it to their advantage when roasting. For example, Jimin is very sensitive about his height since he's one of the shortest members in BTS. 😂✌💜

It doesn't have to be a roast actually, they can say anything but the other person must say "of course" no matter what they say or they lose. Usually it's a roast because it's hard for people to say "of course" to an insult but sometimes you get people who ask their opponent out for a date or propose marriage, or they can make accusations or even ask their opponent to promise to do things for them etc. Their goal is just to say anything that would make it difficult for the other side to say "of course".

Jungkook always tease jin about his age. But they love so much each other. When jungkook joined bts he was so young and miss his family so much. So jin take care of jungkook special and jin drop jungkook to school , show him the city and take jungkook to jin's family dinner. Jungkook mocking jin was from rookie king ep. There are two games you'll see BTS play a lot. The first one is called the "of course" game where opponents take turns saying outrageous statements about each other, but both have to agree to whatever the other one says despite it being outrageous and wrong. Formal language is used by younger people in Korea when speaking to anyone older, but during this game, people tend to get rid of this rule which allows younger people to speak to older people informally, making the game a bit more fun. Ex: Opponent1: "You have no friends because you have bad B.O.." (If opponent2 doesn't answer with "of course," they lose) Opponent2: I don't have B.O.- I mean of course! (Opponent2 lost) The second game is called Stand Off (Also known as Gladiator Hands). In this game, two people stand facing each other, feet together, arms up like they are going to high ten each other. They match up their hands, and try to knock the other one off balance by pushing on them in quick slapping motions. You can fake a push, or duck your own hands away to try and get your opponent to fall off balance. Any movement of the feet is considered being knocked off balance. Sorry if this was too in depth lmao

Specifically, in South Korea, they have informal and formal ways of speech (talking). Westerners might think, "age is just a number", but in South Korea age is very very important as it contributes to how you're suppose to address the person you're speaking to. It determines whether you should speak formally or informally depending if they're older or younger. I will write down some words that's important to know when referring to people of different age groups: 1. Oppa (오빠) - Older Brother This word is used ONLY from younger female to older male. *jungkook doesnt hate people calling him 'oppa', he just doesnt like it when older girls use it towards him since the word should only be used by girls younger than him. 2. Hyung (형) - Older Brother This word has the same meaning as 'oppa' except it's used from younger male to older male context. In this case, Jin is Jungkooks 'hyung' and you would often hear the younger members calling the older ones that. 3. Noona (누나) - Older Sister This word is used from younger male to older female 4. Unnie (언니) - Older sister Same meaning, but this word is used only from a younger female to older female You can use these words alone or add it at the end of someones name. eg: "hyung!" or "Jin-hyung!" It's a bit rare finding the bts members (or any Korean in general) calling each other by just their names alone unless they're the same age, relatives or just older than them. Other than that, using these age terms is important and just basic Korean manners!

Jin and Gukkie are very close. When Guk joined BTS he was only around 14 and his home town Busan is quite far from Seoul so he would miss his parents a lot and be homesick often, he would hide in the bathroom and cry so the others wouldn't worry about him. Jin noticed though and in order to comfort him too Guk to some family Meetings of his own and aquaintanced them to each other. He treated Guk like a little brother despite Jin being the Maknea in his own family. He also used to drive Gukkie to school, pick him up and take him to eat meals (often with his family)

The bickering is an ongoing thing, they might be the oldest and the youngest but they share the same mentality 😂 Jin once thanked Jungkook for it on his letter to him on Bon Voyage 2. In Korea the eldest have more authority, but Jin doesn’t use it/rarely use it. That’s what I love about him, because of it the maknaes (younger siblings) can feel more comfortable with him. When Jin’s not home Jungkook likes to sleep on his bed, take selfies and send it to their group chat 😂

I've seen a lot of people comment before that while all the guys are close like family, Jin and Jungkook have the relationship that resembles actual siblings the most. As an only child, I can't personally vouch if this is true, but I've seen the comment enough where I believe it lol. They are always bickering and play fighting in good fun. LOL not only is Jungkook the youngest but he's like the most muscular one lmao. Jungkook's other hyungs just let him do whatever he wants but Jin puts up a fight and it's hilarious to see. Remember from the "Who is BTS" video they talked about the word hyung. Korea is big on honorifics so since Jin is older than Jungkook, JK needs to use certain honorifics with him. JK is the maknae of the group so he should use honorifics with all of the members. Words like hyung, maknae, dongsaeng (younger sibling) come up often in Kpop as well as Oppa and Noona.

There was even a time when Jin tied JK to him so that they would not be apart, I believed that was during Bon Voyage. JK also likes to eat and drink with Jin in his hotel room. BTW they have variety shows in vlive.tv such as Bon Voyage and Run BTS where they do fun stuff together like going to a vacation, bowling, cooking, etc. There is also a show about them being trained as Hip Hop artist in LA by Warren G., Coolio, etc. back in 2014 called American Hustle Life. This is funny and endearing because in South Korean culture, and maybe in some Asian countries, age is really a big deal. Like if your younger, you have to address those who are older than you in a certain way. In korean language for example they have an "informal" and "formal" way of speaking.. Jin is the oldest in BTS and he and JK are 5 yrs apart, but Jin and JK are friendly with each other. Always bickering and playing like brothers. Jin doesn't really project himself to the guys as a strict older brother and he almost always is the one being silly like he's the youngest of the group. For me he really makes it feel really comfortable for the group and it contributed to how close they were to each other. :)

The one where they were roasting each other was from a series called BTS Rookie Kings. It was episode 8. In korean reality tv shows there is this game called "of course" where the person has to accept and reply all the roasts from their opponent with "of course". If the comment is so ridiculous that they refuse to accept it then they will fail and walk away.

So the roasting segment is a common game in Korea called "Of Course" where one throws an insult to the opponent. In order to continue the game, the opponent has to acknowledge the insult by saying Of Course - failing to acknowledge the insult means you forfeit the game and lose. So JK started with Ya! (Hey!). Formal speech is observed in Korea where ranks/age comes to play. JK being the youngest, it's considered disrespectful to say hey to someone older or of higher position. (However if you are close enough to said person - like I say Ya! to my older sister all the time :P - but from what I know, JK still usually observes formal speech with his bros) However in Korean and for Korean TV, JK's insult of Ya! was a good strong solid insult. However, Jin was able to continue the game until finally when JK insulted the fact that the members only call Jin handsome on TV, meaning that they don't think Jin is handsome at all (btw, the insults don't necessarily mean it's true). So our worldwide handsome was not able to acknowledge that final insult and hence he forfeited and lost the game. Also as a side note, that game was from a show called Rookie King. One of their earlier shows before BTS Run.

That part where JK was "roasting" Jin is from a clip of a popular game, *Dangyunhaji,* which means "of course" in English. The point of the game isn't necessarily to roast someone but to get them to not say "of course". The rule of the game is that your opponent may say whatever they want, and you can only win by responding "Dangyunhaji/Of course." So even if someone says a complete lie or say something the other normally disagrees with/would be insulted by, that person loses when the person doesn't say "of course." Players take turns in saying something, and the first person who doesn't say "of course" loses.

The roasting thing u talked abt? It's actually an 8 ep serie of their rookie days called Rookie King. I'd most def recommend to watch it. Those were what we call fetus Bangtan days. And in this part of the ep they were supposed to try to insult 1 of the opposing teams member & try to make them flustered to win. Thus those insults & talking "down" or informally to the older person.
