I have to say; for a vanilla build this is awesome! I am back playing this on PS5, and I always find Murkwater an interesting place to build but never do due to the water.
@GrouchoSnark5 жыл бұрын
This is one of your best builds. Not only is it a cool looking settlement where you learned some new tricks, but you built something really fun in a place that you had, shall we say...a strong sense of trepidation toward building in. That's what puts it over the top for me. Excellent work, Sar! :)

The whole thing looks so good. It's great the pathing for settlers works. Really like the generator in the megalift. Like all of it, actually. Murkwater is one of my favorite spots to view builds, just because of the uniqueness of the locale. And you Frickin made it look awesome. I'm blown away man. I just watched it again. Dude. Everyone loves Sanctuary Hills and Starlight Drive-In, but Murkwater has to be my favorite "Bad" settlement... Bad settlement meaning hard to build, uneven terrain, small, like Coastal Cottage or Hangman's Alley. I'm digging your build. Pretty dope!

Nice build. Think I turned this settlement into a two man outpost. I have mostly just 3 big settlements and the rest I turned into 2 man or 5 man outposts. Surprisingly some turrets, well armed/ballistic weave armored settlers, and some guard doggos from Far Harbor will turn most settlements into well defended places.

I just don't get how people can build things like this, it looks so amazing. I love the whole makeshift and playful feel it has. My creativity just doesn't reach that far lol. When I have to build a hut my mind literally only thinks of a floor, 4 walls and a roof. I'm quite envious. :D

I watched the entire build so not a lot of surprises but it sure looks nice decorated. For a place you dreaded building at it turned out really well. Thanks for diving head first into the swamp and taking one for the team. Your bar was one of the clues that finally led to me figuring out how to "fire glitch" without using a fire or DLC's. Still don't know why that one took me years to realize but thanks for playing a key part of that. Nice job with this settlement. I imagine one day you will do a Vault 88 build that is equally impressive.

Thanks Sheck! Yeah, no surprises here; just wanted to finally get it "done" so people who don't watch the streams could see it, mostly, and to finish it up for the people who do. And my pleasure--nice to know my thrashing about has ancillary effects. ;) Don't hold your breath for 88 though haha :P

@SarDeliac5 жыл бұрын
lol yeah it came with "challenges"... you and Groucho competing for understatement of the year here haha :P And thanks!
@Lancer_Lott5 жыл бұрын
I love vanilla builds so much more challenging to create a great settlement with the restrictions (you can't scrap this or that, you can't place that there without it jumping up 10meters in the air etc). Having to use pillar/rug glitches to get things sunk, hidden away or close is half the fun. The only down side is I like to clutter with junk and it gets strewn all over during an attack. For this reason only, I use one single mod to make items static after spending an age getting them positioned how I want. I also like to wander the vicinity and carry back tires, wood boxes, plastic blue bins, shopping carts, whatever can be picked up and bring back. You have overcome the challenges and produced a very nice trade centre in a difficult place. I like it very much.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the build. And I do the same thing--drag things back from all over--when I want to thoroughly decorate a place. ;)

I’ve literally just built this place up tonight & I’m really happy with how it turned out. I kinda went a similar route except I didn’t do the “mess of pathways” thing. It hurts my brain to think about doing that. I just built around the lake, all building up on high stilts so out of the swamp & it has a very Louisiana vibe imo. I’m kinda jelly of your idea for that ruined house. I got annoyed with it & built my farm on top of it with again, lots of raised stilted platforms.

I was under the impression that Murkwater was supposed to be a waypoint for escaping Synths, which is why the Railroad sends you there to build up the place. Now I find its just another settlement?
@SarDeliac4 жыл бұрын
The location of Mercer Safehouse is randomly chosen from available settlements that do not have settlers living there and have enemies that need to be removed, like Taffington (bugs), Zimonja (raiders), Sunshine Tidings (ghouls) and Jamaica Plains (also ghouls). I've had Mercer be at all those locations before, in addition to Murkwater. :)

@@SarDeliac So if you don't build up Murkwater what is the purpose of the Caretaker living there? How is he associated with the Railroad?

The game just picks one settlement at random and sticks him there. AFAIK he only has one quest, and then he just hangs around forever, doing nothing but complaining about how terrifying everything is. Another missed opportunity there, I guess. /shrug

This is one of my favorite places to build; guessing because it is one I always make "sloppy" FO4. Everywhere else I think "Time to use the knowledge of the Survivor and 200+ year old Ghoul's to restore the world to some form of glory" a.k.a. lore breaking builds. I need you to keep me grounded =) I get an ATTITUDE every time I watch a build video and angry with Bethesda (how many are there on YT alone? THOUSANDS). If they love money so damn much WHY, *WHY* don't they create a game for us BUILDERS? Sure, yeah yeah, some attacker challenges, but the main theme is to BUILD! Fine tune their building mechanics, unlimited build (as much as ones PC can handle), make more money by creating things Modder's do; Better textures, more building items, better crafting stations, yada yada yade. You know expansions, DLC's and make them reasonable prices as to sell more. WHY no one opens their eyes to the BUILDER's is beyond me! I say Beth because their building world, more so Morrowind is top notch! Easy to figure out, easy to use... when they came out with OB I was greatly annoyed how crap the creation kit was compared to MW. Ok ok I'll get off my rant box... BUILDER's GAME PLEASE!
@SarDeliac5 жыл бұрын
Be careful what you wish for, DK. Their idea of "a builder's game" is that VR CC thing. Not to get too preachy or soapbox-y, but their idea of how building should be implemented is very, very far from the view of most people who actually build. Including me. I'm just happy they stopped breaking things. And we'll leave it at that. :P
