@@LiLTailormade true. X is in my top 5. But after 2001/2002, he started declining. But yes, 98-2000, he was incredible. “The Great Depression” of 2001 album wasn’t hitting though. RIP X.

It’s because being a beast of a rapper doesn’t matter at all these days. Most successful artists couldn’t rap a gift, they get by on Beats, catchy hooks, and image, which is partially marketing but it’s a young man’s game, you’re not ever gonna get any old timers hitting it big unless it’s a legend like Dre or snoop, but they’re so big and established they have labels willing to work with them

What he's trying to say that the interviewer isn't getting is that it was only about Nelly. He was the steak, and they were the potatos. They helped gas him. Not the other way around from the labels' prospective. Even though they were hot to US, the labels only cared about Nelly and didn't even plan to push them as an independent entity because they didnt understand. They Lil Bro'd them, to the labels detriment. Because Murphy Lee could have had a long career with the right support.

The labels missed a huge opportunity because the Lunatics were dope and brought a new sound to rap game. From their style,vocabulary and just all around fun group. Yes Nelly was the front man but they each should've at least dropped 2 albums apiece from the momentum of country grammar.

@d.felixphoto2260
@d.felixphoto2260 Жыл бұрын
I bet the labels didn't even realize that their lack of a plan for Nelly and the Lunatics was actually a good plan and terrible one at the same time. They did flood the market with Nelly and when the Lunatics dropped it all tied in together where they became a mega group with a new mega star at the same time. However, they didn't move right after it took off like that. They got lazy and went back to being greedy and didn't press the issue more. They actually had one of the biggest groups especially associated with a new artist who became a mega star. The Lunatics could have been bigger then G-UNIT because of the personalities and fan base being from east to west. They were definitely bigger then D12 with Em. They had more global appeal then Disturbing the Peace, Dip Set and State Property and others.
@sammymobs3889
@sammymobs3889 Жыл бұрын
Nah guint was the biggest as a Group then d12 then st lunatics . But as solo it was Eminem ,50,Nelly ..but if Nelly did what 50 did after he dropped his debut drop a st lunatics album like what 50 did with beg for mercy it would be a different conversation but Nelly or the label was selfish and knew the people wanted Nelly
@drestathagangsta8880
@drestathagangsta8880 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. The Lunatics were definitely 3rd after G-Unit and D12. Beg for Mercy and Devil's Night went 4x platinum and 2x platinum respectively. Free City was dope but it didn't sell like that.
