"Sweet" is the word. All 3 have real character - by no means a given with a lot of SSS Strats. Very cool - have seen a couple of other KZbins I follow (Colin / UK & Paul / Scotland) enjoying Murrays. Great to see a maker from Oz getting great exposure!

These sound great! Perfectly balanced too! No volume drop when one switched from neck to middle and neck, and similarly from bridge to bridge and middle. NICE! 😊

Thanks Fulton, I use 3 different wind patterns to help keep things evenly balanced.

Your work effort is impressive Brett. Changing out your pickups on your guitars as often as you do just for demonstrative purposes is highly commendable.

Thanks, Rob. It's a bit of a pain sometimes but it's nice to help the newer builders out there. Cheers.

Thanks for the kind words Brett. For anyone that wants to get into more detail, the output readings can only give a vague idea of how they are going to sound. To be more specific the neck pup has 7500 turns of wire with a loose, scattered wind pattern. The bridge has 8000 turns with a tighter, less scattered pattern and the middle is obviously in between. The more scattered the wind pattern the better the wire is insulated from eddy currents, preserving the signal's clarity and high end frequencies. A tighter less scattered pattern is obviously going to restrict some of those really spiky high frequencies and also keeps the wire closer to the magnetic field which gives you more power therefore more bass and mids which works well in a Strat bridge pickup. .....or it may just be the water....tone water

I had the pleasure of hearing you play that guitar in Brisbane on Sunday. You and the band were so great I reckon I'd got the value of the ticket price before Sting even came on. Thanks
@BrettKingman Жыл бұрын
Andrew, that's a very kind comment, thank you. I hope you had a great time. Sting's got so many great songs, eh? Nice bloke, too. For the record: I have three Strats dressed up like this - the 'tuxedo' theme. The one I used on Sunday was a mix of '57 RI body and Eric Johnson neck. The pickups in that one are 'Purple Voodoos' by Ben Bailey. Being a mid 60's themed set, they're a good deal angrier than these by Ben Murray. I'll be keen to try the latter this weekend though. Cheers and thanks again for taking the time to leave a comment. I appreciate it.

Off the back of this I got a set of Ben Murray's mid 60's pickups for my second strat, and they are just perfect. South Australia for the pickups, and old Australian amps made in Northcote in the 60's seems to be the way I ride these days.

Nicest sounding pickups ever heard. Second position is to die for:) Thinking about building the Black Strat. Could you share what neck you purchased? I am looking at the Classic 50 and the Road Worn (both Mexican) options, but can not find the specks for the 1st and 12th fret thickness. Thanks Brett!
