Vagabond is my second favorite manga that I've read thus far. I haven't read that many, but in a way I think that speaks to its quality even more so as I don't usually get deep into manga or anime save for a fair few that really interest and impress me. My number one favorite is Berserk, but Vagabond is so close behind it that the term, "Breathing down its neck," is an understatement. I just wish that Vagabond could get a really well made anime if it hasn't already and I just don't know it.

@@loneronin6813 Two manga with extreme hiatuses, lemme guess your favorite Shonen is Hunter x Hunter... I love these 3 and I've been reading them for the past 20 years but thanks to their problem in common I always wait at least a year before starting a new manga to check if the mangaka won't be an asshole to his audience. One thing is for sure though, when the mangaka has time to think and elaborate their world they create incredible plotlines and artwork, you won't find many Shonen at all with the quality of HxH for example, but I'd still love for Togashi to hire a full time illustrator for HxH or even drop the manga altogether and get a good writer to finish his work in a light novel.

James D, writer of Fahrenheit 1984 I meant his fighting style and methods used. Sure he won and lived to figh another day, but his methods weren’t exactly honourable and I thought that’s what samurai were supposed to all be about. That’s why when I here him being referred to as the “greatest samurai “ I can’t agree. Greatest swordsman maybe.

It makes me want to re read the manga Vagabond but it makes me sad thinking it will never be finished unless someone takes it over. But it's been since 2015 it's been on "hiatus" so I find that doubtful. But it's still worth reading even though there's no end. But you know the real story so it helps finish it out in your head. But it's a great story and the duels are really good.

i dont know how realistic a lot of these fight scenes were; however most one on one samurai sword duels were fought with the emphasis of striking you r opponent with the first blow... so much emphasis and power was put in the first swing and if a person over extended themselves then that was it... so in a sense some of the fight scenes could be pretty accurate. it's whoever kills his opponent with the first strike that wins... that's what samurai duels and training is based on..

People like duels. Me too. For example when I was a kid every night every channel had a Western playing. Most of the shows had a gunfight at high noon on the main street. There were a lot of cowboy movies too and they all had a quick draw duel. But while there were plenty of killing in the Old West some claim there were only two real such fights in reality. One included Bill Hickok. I read all these Osprey Duel books. But the publisher has a problem. In WWII there were almost no tank duels. The computer tank gamers don't care. They watch these duels endlessly on their computers, In the West noblemen dueled with swords to defend their honor. But in the Tokugawa era all the Samurai carried swords but disputes were not solved this way. The Daimyo or other higher ranking official would simply order the one he chose to kill himself. Musashi did fight duels, but later in the period dueling was discouraged. Dueling Samurai are like fast draw cowboys - mostly seen in movies.

Musashi actor is way too short. In reality Musashi Miyamoto was at least 180 cm an era where average Japanese men were less than 160 cm. That enabled him huge reach advantage over his opponents. Nowadays with average height of Japanese men reaching 170 cm, in order to show real Musashi's performance actor should have at least 193 cm.

Real Musashi should be ugly looking too.

One of the contributing factors for his greatness was his height and long hands. Imagine 183 cm guy stabbing 160 cm guy with katana while the latter's tip of katana is nowhere nearly reaching his hands lol

Well if there is a porn movie based on life story of famous womanizer with great phallic dimensions, then penis size should be an issue either. As for Musashi's case as I previously said, he was basically a giant among midgets with great reach advantage over the later, which had great contribution on his victories. Just the way Klitschko brothers in boxing or Semmy Schilt in kickboxing get advantage by their sheer sizes. That's why I am implying actor's height, you fucking moron.

Aag E actually katana was made relative to the wielder's height and arm length to provide better reach. So musashi would probably get an 82/85cm katana which was big for a katana that time. Except he needs to steal a sword.
