Now one of my favorites, I arrived in June 1964, lived on Speedway & Wavecrest, Gold Gyms just nearby. Venice was quieter then, Venice West Cafe on Dudley has Jim Morrrison of the Doors hanging out around that time!. Arnold and Franco Columbo pooped up at Golds. What memories, nothing like the 30s, 40s, and 50s.. We all miss Huell, what an inspirational and decentman! RIP

@@MrOmermost So you are welcome. I'm in the Philippines looking north east at our place in Cambria, just 15 minutes north of Moro Bay. Venice has quite a history. I used to be a member of World Gym in Oxnard, in the late 80s, early 90s and would work out when visiting L.A. Arnold had a Star at his parking spot at World located on Abbot B. Kinney near Rose Ave. A quiet place, I spotted Lou "The Incredible Hulk" there one time. While at Oxnard, The Dallas Cowboys back Tony Dorsett wold work out there during the preseason sometimes. I moved to Yuma, Arizona in 1992, however always would workout at World Gym because i thought that Golds was too "Hollywood" for me! I am an official of Olympic-style boxing/judge, and clinician for USA Boxing and the Philippines national federation ABAP. Affiliated with La Colonia Youth Boxing Assoc. 1990-1992 founder, president, and Yuma County Youth Boxing Assn. (1999-2009 pres/founder of non-profit, a passion also a percussionist, with Brazz Jazz (1976-1979, Boys from Brasil(1980-1983), Giorgio Pretti & the Brasilian Beat(1992-2004) based in L.A. now Barkadas Jazz in the Philippines.My first place as a teen at age 18 after hitchhiking out from Philly was on Speedway & WaveCrest, it cost $67.50 per month, a murphy bed, two room, a tiny kitchen, bathroom with an iron footed tub!

Gotta see this 30 minute production on Muscle Beach in the 1940's... note participant GLENN SUNBY who started the GYMNAST Magazine in the 1960's and many mentions of Russ Saunders and his wife Paula who are featured in many of the video's. Gladys and Vic Hartley (Winnipeg) were very good friends with Russ and Paula (Los Angeles), and shared in many of the tricks they mutually taught each other. WOW! What a nice historic piece of gymnastics history!!!!

Yep, when I saw him, it reminded me of my ex, that's what the sun will do to you. My ex used to( or still does?) lay out in the sun all day, no sunblock, but all lathered in baby oil, and her skin now looks like a catcher's mitt. The sun is not forgiving.
