I had a 1971 mach 1 just like this one same color except hood color had silver stripe with black on side and had ram air on 351c motor. It was a automatic c6 transmission with 9 inch rear axle. Mine had the decor package on doors with wood grain trim. Beautiful car. Beautiful color combination. Mine had the 15 inch magnum boss style wheels with white letter good year tires.

Probably my all time favorite Mustang. Just something about the long hood and sloped rear deck. The Black paint and stripes. Although the 302 is a great engine, It would be better if it had a Clevland in it.

In 69 & 70 The smallest motor you could get in the Mach1 was the 351 Windsor. Starting 1971 Ford lowered their standards for the Mach and allowed the F code 302. Also, it was the only year they offered the Bad ass 429 SCJ or CJ ! Those cars bring the big bucks.

My best friend asked me to drive and deliver his newly bought 1971 mustang Mach 1 to him about 300 miles. The 351 Cleveland motor began to overheat at about 75 MPH between expressway exits and I continued on to try to make it to the next exit five miles away… I blew both head gaskets out of it and the motor was fried! Hey, what are friends for? He blew up my 69 427/435 tripower corvette a few years before throwing a rod through my corvettes oil Pan… so we are even I guess!

Same way they looked in the 70s and 80s I was still on a bike buss pass or Traxx shoes lol See guys ladies dailied these cars with manual steering. Id like to find an early 70s non fastback with ac for my retirement daily. Always loved the back end of those. Even being a chevy guy These cars all had personality, not today These body styles were hated on back then...the old "if it aint light it aint right" st racer mindset

@@musclecarsforsaleinc nope thats not it. I had a 71 mach 1 and it never idled that high after it warmed up. Turn the idle down and check the timing. It needs checking because that Stang is beautiful and needs a little loving.
